Sold a high value item worth $8000.
Buyer in New Zealand and zero feedback. I'm thinking i should cancel?

Import restrictions need to be considered. What is the jacket made of?
Customs clearance is the other problem. Have you checked?

Yep checked and no problem with the restrictions.
custom tax % and vat% are the sticker shock

Either $$$ to burn or, naive to think gov wouldnt look for their cut or, scam and I'm going to loose product???
I vote #3.

I thought that sticker shock would cause buyer to request cancelation, nope!!
buyer seemed like it shouldn't be that high but if it is they would deal with it when it was asked for.

If they've got the money for the jacket(s), they've got the money for the import duties 🙂
(If you are buying a Rolls Royce, you aren't worried about gas money)
I understand that this is a nerve-wracking deal ... but .... AU and NZ buyers have been the absolute nicest buyers that I have ever had.
Ship it (them) insured with Sig confirmation ...
Have you looked at DHL prices (you can ship DHL through most UPS stores).
DHL is eBay trackable.

I was thinking GSP, but the GSP has a value limit of $2500 to NZ (same for most of R.O.W.), so no help if you were to cancel and relist rebuy using GSP as the delivery service.

Cancel and relist as Local Pickup Only. Round trip airfare Chicago to Auckland is $1257. Jackets in luggage. Personal delivery. See New Zealand. 🙂
Loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong plane ride 😞

## I need to amend my previous post ... DHL pre-paid labels can be dropped off at most UPS stores ##

Seriously I was thinking of suggesting I personally deliver it. Would be cheaper for buyer and save $2100. Airfare is $1200 to nz this week. Really would that be rude?? Heard nz is beautiful

Import Duties may still apply. What about Passport, Visa, vaccinations, etc.?

If you've got a valid passport, why not? LOL
If it were me, I would take the jackets carry-on ... it would be just my luck that my luggage would get lost or damaged 😞
Hotel, food and rental car need to be factored in, though ... the whole profit from the sale would end up being "vacation money" ... but it might just be worth it to go to NZ 🙂

Lots of airlines have cargo and package services.
Here's the page for Air New Zealand: https://www.airnewzealand.co.nz/international-cargo-contacts

A visa isn't necessary to NZ for a stay of 3 months or less ... just a passport.
And no vaccinations are required 🙂

The CDC suggests making sure that you have been vaccinated against mumps, since an outbreak of mumps has been reported in NZ since 2017

Passport check, jackets check, 5 business days shipping option for my listings check, 2 days for travel, and 3 days to see Auckland.
Wishful thinking

Me, I'd put the store on vacation for 10 days ... a direct flight for me (Miami to Aukland) is 17 hours and I would have to get to Miami .... with layover time and check-in/airport time, I'd add another 10 hours to that ... over a full day one-way ... Leaving 7 days to see the country ... maybe 5 ... one to get over jet lag and one to meet the buyer.
Ah, but it's a nice daydream isn't it 🙂
