what do I do now?

I have delivery confirmation, here is a copy of the email I just got from buyer, "

Guess what? Item was forwarded to our vacation address outside Park Rapids, Minnesota , and supposedly was delivered the day we removed our mailbox (we do that every fall because snow plow has knocked it down one winter. However, I know it was not delivered before we took it down, and we left for Albuquerque the next morning. After checking with neighbor up there, this is still a mystery. I will call Park Rapids post office tomorrow to get more info. If it is lost, I’m afraid I will be request a refund". My reply was ok I and eBay will do everything to bla bla and it will take time to investigate, ect.? ok, so it's 50 bucks, but the account they bought from looks respectable, thoughts anyone?

Re: what do I do now?

There are 3 types of First Class mail: letters, flats, and packages. eBay's display of the generic Standard shipping' First Class' doesn't tell us which of the 3 the seller plans to use. But none of the items recently sold by the OP could be mailed as letters or flats, so they must have been sent as packages.

You're saying the buyer confirmed delivery?

Do you also have tracking? What does tracking say? Does it confirm delivery?

I think everything at this point hinges on having a tracking number and what tracking says. No tracking, no defense against an item not received case. If you have tracking and it says "delivered", you're in the clear.

If not, I might suggest refunding the buyer if they request it, because you can't win an INR case without tracking. It doesn't matter if they say they received it prior to saying they didn't. If that's what you mean by "confirmed delivery", it's not enough, unfortunately. Don't go into an INR case thinking that you will win if all you have is an email from a buyer saying they received it prior to filing the INR case. I have never heard anyone win one of those...but lots of people frustrated that they lost one.

I assumed you had tracking in my previous post. If you don't, that changes things a bit.

Re: what do I do now?

Also pulling the mail box is suspicious when you think about it. The buyer new they were having mail forwarded to their summer house. They probably knew a package was still in route. Rather than wait for the package it sounds like they tried to pull the mailbox hopping it would force postal carrier to return to sender rather than wait a few days to receive the item before leaving.

Re: what do I do now?

I wanted to follow up and say that I will gladly pay a refund if the person has not received the item and believe them totally as truthful if they have a good account, and they do. So, I am the blame because I in my eagerness printed a shipping label before payment and did not check to make sure the order copy of payment for item shipping address, matched. lesson learned fifty dollars if they say they cant find, thanks everyone.

Re: what do I do now?

USPS First Class does come with tracking but no insurance and is slightly slower than Priority but only 1 or 2 days slower.
