OK this is seriously getting on my nerves.
You know what important details my listings are missing?
They don't offer free returns.
pfft.
I sell clothing. I'm not offering free returns. Never have. Never will.
I wish eBay would knock it off. I'm sick of the messages and phone calls urging me to offer to pay for returns of non SNAD clothing.

You can't stop ebay from making suggestions to their site, but you can just ignore them if they do not fit your business model.

ebay thinks they are a big box store, and we are the warehouse.
Watch TV, Target (I think) is offering one day delivery... free ?
Wally world is 2 day with free shipping.
Then you have prime...
Then you have on-demand TV, and streaming movies.
We live in an I want it now world.

Ebay finds more ways to waste your time because you have to investigate what important "details" your items are "missing". What a bunch of bunk. weasel speak calling those "details missing".

True, but unlike an infestation of earwigs, I can't spray eBay with RAID. They send a message/phone me and I open the message/answer the phone on the off-chance that they might have something to say that I actually need to hear.

You are right
WE ARE NOT A BIG BOX STORE! We are just little sellers that are using ebay to help pay a bill, or have a little extra for those things we need. Maybe it is a hobby and we just want to keep busy. Maybe we want to just get rid of things and downsize. Their are lots of reason we sell here. I got the email AGAIN from eBay this morning about 'TOP TIPS for selling your items on eBay." I've done searches and not very many sellers are doing it. eBay is desperate for sellers to do this so they can promote it in their advertising. Not doing it.
Here is the breakdown of the what the stores are offering I checked their websites:
* Target free 2 day shipping ON ELIGIBLE ITEMS with a $35.00+ order, free returns with time limits depending on if it was unopened or if it is their brand or otherwise.
* Walmart Free Shipping on a $35.00+ Order - Free Returns. But forget Walmart with their return policy, you can bring back your spouse and they will give you money back!
I don't sell expensive items I don't even have anything over $35.00 right now. I do have free shipping on some items. But if I offer free returns, then I will be in the NEGATIVE when someone uses it. I only make a few dollars on the items I sell.
eBay has STOPPED all my sales and I haven't had one in 12 days, because of this ridiculous new stupid idea that we should offer 30 day free returns. I was getting at least a few sales each week, now nothing.
IF I'M NOT MAKING MONEY THEN NEITHER IS EBAY!

Yes, exactly. The title of the email led me to think that I must have omitted some key required item specifics. So I naively opened it. Even then they wouldn't directly say "free returns" in the message, only that my listings weren't qualifying for TRS Plus and a link to both the listings and to the TRS Plus requirements - the only 'detail' missing being free returns, which fortunately I already knew and saved myself extra wasted time clicking on the links.
And they also thought I should lower the price on scores of listings to ridiculous prices equivalent to giving them away.
Waste of time. (as usual)

While whatever ebay sends may be irrelevant to you, it may be to someone else..... mass mailings/phone calls are the bain of existence today...... I DO NOT need extended warrenty on my 2 wk old new car. As far as ebay making money...........they are looking at from the whole.......you are looking at it from your perspective..... they are not equal........while something ebay does may harm you, the individual, it may benefit the site as a whole and make them MORE money..........

Your last line says it all. I don't think they've thought any of this through to the end. They've calculated as many ways as possible how to grab more money from the sellers, but they forgot the one stupid policy that negates ALL of it. Free returns = More returns. More returns = No Visibility. No Visibility = No Sales. eBay, it's a very simple grade 2 math equation. Look at the end of it. "NO SALES".
