Just revised a variations listing where I have music cd's for sale. Checked it out after the revision and now the drop down menu is gone and there are thumbnails a user has to look through to find a particular cd. Not sure if I like this change as it's more hunting than getting straight to the item desired. Shouldn't text be king or is everything being designed for pretty pics on a phone nowadays?! I prefer my desktop setup over my phone any time of day and optimization and simplicity was once the gold standard of web design. Items that sold appear to be greyed out thumbnails.

I know I’m late to this game, but I try to involve myself in all issues with variations since I’m heavily invested in it. I checked the OPs listing and see it as a normal drop down. I saw the screenshots of the thumbnails… and OMG there’s noooooo way that’s an intended final product for variations. It’s gotta be a mistake.

There’s no way that system would work when you have multiple attributes, because eBay only allows you to link a photo to ONE attribute category and not a combination of two or more. For example, since I sell clothing, I obviously link photos associated with the “color” attribute (let’s say for a dress that I have in black and other colors). If I have 10 different sizes of that dress (under that “thumbnail” variations interface) eBay would just show 10 thumbnails of the same black dress and no text description of size associated each. It’d be a clicking frenzy for a buyer to guess which black dress is the size they want.

Also something off topic I want to ask the OP… dude are you from the future???

Yes they did! I cleaned out my cache in Firefox and it went back to drop down menu thankfully. Thx for checking back.

Mine when back to drop-down menu format. I guess they were making some changes and then reverted back. I think you'll be ok now.

I just cleared my cache and cookies this morning for another issue and now all of my listings have the thumbnails. I pulled up the same listings on my tablet and they have the drop down menu. Who knows what the different buyers are seeing. If they see those thumbnail I don't see them being able to purchase anything from me.
