What do you think about the new messaging system? I prefer the classic one

This new feature is yet another disaster for Ebay. The user experience on it is God-Awful and you lose capability to see what you got versus sent and the dates. This is so bad that it is nearly unusable. Ebay is definitely not changing for the better. The pre-charging payment methods before offers and biddings is still awful. Ebay used to be my first choice for buying. Now it is nearly my last. I only use it when I cant find stuff elsewhere.

I can understand why you like it you only have 6 items for sale. If you were doing a real business it is a giant cluster time waster. Try managing over 5200 listing and hundreds of email. Its costing my business $3000 a month in lost productivity. Its just another fix finding a problem. Standard eBay. Their real reason is to have the cell phone on par with the PC and all with any sense know that just can't happen.

That's correct - and is a complete pet peeve of mine. The world is being dumbed down to the crippled smartphone level, its all about the PHOOOOOONNE!! {Insert rant here} I don't own one, don't want one, think they're a useless waste of time and money, and I certainly do not want a smartphone experience on my computer.

I don't like it and to show my unhappiness I went a whole day without purchasing on ebay.

I don't like it at all. The old system was much more user friendly.

I ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS NEW FORMAT.
The layout is confusing...can't tell which message I am responding to. But the kicker is their
not permitting photos to be sent to buyers. It is 3 PM on the day before Thanksgiving. I just got notice that
I sold something but I discovered it has a small flaw. So I immediately contacted the buyer to ask if he wanted to be released or for me to proceed with shipping. (I could still get it to the post office today before the long Thanksgiving weekend). I took photos of the flaw but the short-sighted designers of this new messaging format do not make any means to send a photo. PLEASE QUIT CHANGING ONLY FOR THE SAKE OF CHANGE. It is terrible and I will likely lose a sale. Thank you eBay I.T. idiots.

It is Ebay's attempt to be all things to all people and They should learn from past Companies that tried this and met with disaster or failed product lines (McDonalds, Google Glass, Apple Newton, Jaguar's latest DEI junk, etc etc.) Ebay product management is also being led by the nose from I.T. and it shows. The whole User experience is steps backward instead of forward. Plus, Ebay doesn't give a **bleep** about communicating or trial sizing this in advance. It is little wonder that Ebay has lost 50 million active users in the last 5 years. That's a 30% decrease from late 2018. Terrible. Sometimes, you just need to stick with what works instead of re-inventing things that do work. Stop putting in fixes for things that do not have problems to solve. Ebay is not listening and Ebay is making people lose business and that will necessitate moving to other platforms.. I have already started doing that.

We are on 4 other sites and currently do 9% of our business on eBay. If could responsible move the 9% I would. You are correct in all your statements.

@redhairnheels : They do let you attach photos. It's the little image icon (a mountain symbol) immediately to the left of the "Send message" window where you type your message.

It's CRAZY STUPID!! It's easy to understand why so many members post items on multiple sites including Amazon.
I was chatting with an eBay rep earlier and I thought I was in the new messaging system! 😣
Have you noticed that not one so-called "eBay mentor" has weighed in? Has anyone tried reaching out to eBay's Executive Offices?
Like the White House, we need the old regime to return to power at eBay so they can make the experience "Great Again". I might even consider repurchasing eBay stock.

Amen. I cannot add to what you said. I have another post where I called out the Senior management of Ebay. They are clearly front and center the problem. They have cheap watered down ideas and are so out of touch with what works. Yeah, I get that Ali babe and Amazon are taking huge bite out of them but, destroying incentives like ebay bucks, coupons and of course human customer assistance is not the way. The platform used to be reliable and had th concept of business events where bidding was bidding, Best offers were best offers and payments are payments. The idiocy to try to link them all upfront is extremely poor. This company is in trouble. If I was running it, it would not be losing 50 million users over 5 years.

eBay Mentors are not eBay employees; they're just regular users who have qualified for mentor status in terms of helping other users in the Community groups.
As for weighing in on this topic, it's been discussed by everyone and their brother for upwards of a year or more now, mentors and everyone else, since way back whenever the first attempt at this new design was made public.

I agree with your comment that eBay is in trouble. Although I have been an active buyer on eBay for more than 25-years, I have never sold anything (but I may in the future). But when I started getting notices saying I needed to provide payment information prior to bidding my antenna went way up! Especially when I have a spotless feedback history and have never failed to honor my commitments.
And this was true for sellers who I have done business with for more than 15-years. When I reached out to several of them they all said eBay pushed this out as a default without any prior notification. And they only became aware when members like myself contacted them. They also complained that the silent majority who didn't reach out were also not bidding costing them business. But the good news is, unlike the new messaging, there was a way for sellers to easily turn off this requirement. The bad news is, you have to message the seller and request they turn off that requirement. And if it's someone I haven't done business with, I exit out of the bidding and just move on. I know there are bandits out there but the majority of eBay members are in good standing. It's just another example of pulling the trigger carte blanche and doing so without any communication.
When I learned that eBay had pushed out this upfront payment requirement as a default it immediately made me think they had a cash flow problem. So I bailed out of the stock I owned.
I'm sorry... I forgot we were talking about the new messaging system. 🙄

HAH! well, I made the point that quite honestly, it's all part and parcel of the same problem: bad management and bad policy.
Yes, I gave Ebay an earful over the auto pay garbage nonsense. I've been on here for 16 years and I've spent a lot of money on collectibles and have always paid up and I enjoyed the concept of the basket, divvying up the payments across multiple source and getting discounts, rewards, ebay bucks applied. And now,,, to group all of us as some kind of grifting dead beats is unconscionable and insulting. I get that Ali Baba, Amazon and others are eating some of Ebay's lunch. But penalizing the buyers and sellers as well as not incentivizing rewards to try and get people to come here instead of driving them away with this garbage is clearly not working. It also proves that the vision and IQ levels of the top tier is embarrassing. You cannot slash, burn and punish your way ahead. It's a good thing you liquidated this stock. EBay would be better off just applying a 10% cost on deadbeat buyers or banning bad sellers if that's the mindset. But killing client service and making this tedious experience is not what the originators had in mind back in 1995. I love Ebay and I do not want it to become 'Blockbuster'. They need to clean house at the top.

I'd just be happy if they fixed their search - its almost as bad as Amazon's now.
