transactions concluded, items delivered, eBay still holds my funds for OVER TWO WEEKS!

I have sold two items to two different members at auction, both have received the items, yet eBay is still withholding my funds due to my relative "inexperience" despite my lengthy history selling under a different account, claiming they are "protecting (me) in case the buyer decides to claim the item wasn't delivered". I hand delivered one of the items and eBay seemed to want to penalize me for not using eBays shipping label. Last time I let eBay set the shipping cost, they charged far less than actual cost and then charged me more for the listing than the auction sold for! And i still followed thru and delivered. How the heck do they get away with including the shipping in the final value?

How is holding my funds protecting anything?

@sincitygpk

It is simply designed to protect eBay.

There is no benefit to the buyer if your funds are held since they have the MBG.  I don't see any benefit to the seller either.

@sincitygpk

New or infrequent sellers will experience transaction holds while learning best selling practices. This helps sellers become established and build a strong selling history on eBay. New sellers typically experience holds for up to 14 days, although sometimes it may be longer.

You stated you hand delivered an item to a customer.  Was local pick up an option in the listing? If you a create a new account you will be treated as a "New Seller."  It doesn't matter how long you have sold on other accounts.  It is for the protection of the buyer and to back the money back guarantee.  Tracking is a must on most internet sales platforms these days, especially with all the fraud about "non receipt."

My suggestion is to use the tools that eBay provides to avoid further instances like the one you are describing.  That way you have proof of delivery and hopefully a positive outcome for you and the buyer.

Happy Selling.

The buyer left positive feedback LAST WEEK. How is holding my funds protecting anything?

Read this: https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/getting-paid/getting-paid-items-youve-sold/payments-hold?id=4816

You agreed to it when you listed and please do not come here calling another seller who volunteers their time to try and assist a 'bot' - and if you aren't ''talking to us'' who is it you think you are talking to?

Shipping has been included in the final value fee since 2011, being as new as you are you no doubt missed this information even though it is stated clearly under fee's, along with the fact the Sales Tax the buyer pays you is also subjected to FVF.

As to the feedback received 2 weeks ago, a buyer has 180 days to open a case to claim a refund.

You have a great day and maybe have a read through the various help pages eBay has to inform yourself of

how things work here.

EBay keeps your money for a period of time in case the buyer changes their mind and wants a refund.  They can't afford to pay in case this type of situation arises.  Think of it this way.... if you decided to sell a guitar for a friend, sold it, shipped it and gave the funds to your friend then 2 months later the buyer contacts his credit card company and decides the guitar was bad and he wants his money back.  The credit card refunds him his by charging you for the transaction.  Probably the end of that friendship....

You wouldnt be the first seller to receive positive feedback on your item, then three weeks later have that buyer open a not as described case against you. Ebay prefers that any refunds come out of your pocket, not theirs.

P.S. I am not a 'bot'.

You are aware that YOU (the seller) setup all the shipping parameters for an item...(dimensions, class, weight)

Ebay does not "set the shipping cost"

You're welcome....

Hi @sincitygpk

 In order to move past eBay’s ‘holds’ … you have to sell about 25 items, costing about $200, over the course of at least 90 days.

[Whatever activity you had on another account doesn’t count.]

that still doesn't justify keeping the funds long after the transaction has concluded

@sincitygpk ,

The length of the hold depends on the dollar amounts of the transaction. Generally speaking the larger the transaction the longer the hold. 30 days is not uncommon.

Re: transactions concluded, items delivered, eBay still holds my funds for OVER TWO WEEKS!

do you work for eBay? then i was talking to you

six months to claim a refund? so you're saying if they wanted to hold your funds for six months after the conclusion of the transaction to cover their butt (who cares about yours), that would be acceptable?

why is "seller does not accept returns" even an option and what happened to selling an item "as-is"?

and to the "not-bots"- funny, most of you still sound like one

Re: transactions concluded, items delivered, eBay still holds my funds for OVER TWO WEEKS!

When you post a message here, you're addressing a very large group of experienced eBay buyers and sellers who volunteer their time here to help others when they can.

None of us are eBay employees and none of us are "bots".

Any seller's "do not accept returns" policy is trumped by eBay's Money Back Guarantee, which all sellers as well as buyers need to read.

The other issues you've mentioned are pretty well covered in eBay's info about selling, fees etc and should probably have been read before beginning to sell here.
