I mailed some items today,,,went to the page to mark "SHIPPED". Why is there nowhere to add the tracking number now? I think it is important for both seller and buyer. I hate typing that long number, but please put back the space for the seller to confirm shipping. thanks,,,

Probably a glitch if you don't see add tracking contact ebay. You hand type tracking numbers? Why not just copy and paste? Hopefully your managing sales on a computer using seller hub?

I get a receipt from the post office,,,,can't copy and paste from that. 🙂
I'll try and find the place to contact eBay directly.

Maybe the option to add it will come back if you mark as not shipped?
Also. Are you paying retail for labels?

You should buy your shipping from ebay through the order. Not only will you save money on each label but the tracking numbers will be added to the order automatically, eliminating the possibility of a typo.

from the info I see when I sell something and option to pay for postage thru eBay, I pay less if I take packages to the postoffice. eBay stated about $7 for my little package, (miniatures) the postoffice charges $5.35 for furthest away from me. Also, I pack and address the packages myself.

The post office price is NOT cheaper than ebay.
If it is, you're calculating the price wrong on ebay.

most sellers will just add the tracking and then there is no reason at all to mark it as shipped as ebay will do that for you.
you need to just add the tracking and skip marking it as shipped
it looks like you did things out of order

So your not printing your label through ebay & instead manually marking items as shipped, there is your error right there. If you buy your label through ebay it adds it in. No need to hand write tracking numbers.

No. USPS rates in the PO cost more than labels through eBay. $7 sounds like priority and $5 sounds like first class. If you have added the right weight and dimensions when you set up the listing, postage is calculated correctly. You will save money purchasing postage through eBay so look into it.

Maybe try as suggested and put in the tracking number instead of marking something shipped.
I would add my two cents about buying postage on eBay also. It IS cheaper if you have calculated shipping set up correctly and NO need to type in those long numbers. Save time. Save money.

First Class Package can be purchased on-line for weights up to 15.999 ounces, but if presented over the counter at the Post Office, FCP is only available up to 13.0 ounces. Above that weight, FCP would not be an option for over the counter retail. If the shipment was going as First Class Package and weighed between 13.0 and 15.999 ounces, on-line postage can be purchased for it.
If the package in question is less than 13.0 ounces, it might be that the OP was looking at the Priority price on-line (~$7), but at the post office was quoted a First Class Package price (~$5.35) instead.

When viewing an item to be shipped on my Manage All Orders page (https://www.ebay.com/sh/ord/?filter=status:ALL_ORDERS), options for "Add tracking number" and "Mark as shipped" are both available in the Actions column pulldown menu for that item. If I click on "Mark as shipped," the page will refresh and "Add tracking number" is no longer in the Actions menu, but there is a second link for adding the tracking number ("+ Add tracking"), which should be visible just below the item title and to the right of its photo on that page.

The option to add a tracking number should be visible in your paid & shipped window....if not, suggestion to mark as Not Shipped and manually add tracking makes sense.......
You have been given the wrong information. There are no instances where the "in-person" clerk assisted postage AT THE POST OFFICE is cheaper than online rates. . As a quick example, the same 13 ounce item in a 13X9X2 box (coast-to-coast) that costs 8.25 AT the Post Office Counter costs 6.68 through ebay or most other online label platforms (stamps, pirateship etc....) First Class.......

If you're comparing apples to apples then yes, that's true. I don't know if I'm the one being described as giving "wrong information," but the theory I was offering was that the OP might have been looking at the Priority price on-line, but was offered the First Class Package rate at the counter (if it was below 13.0 ounces), especially if they requested the "cheapest rate" to get it there, and didn't notice the difference in Shipping methods.
For example, the on-line Priority rate (as seen in PayPal/ShipStation) for a 12-ounce package going from Chicago to Boston is $7.96. However, the over-the-counter First Class Package retail rate for that same item is $6.55. Retail Priority would be $10.85 over the counter, obviously higher than its on-line equivalent, but if the clerk has weighed the package and is now rattling off the Shipping options, the OP might decline the $10.85 and go for the $6.55 instead, especially if the Estimated Date of Delivery is within a day or so of the more-expensive rate anyway.
