tracking not provided by PO

Well, it turns out that my post office is not providing tracking when they receive my items to be shipped. Many of my things are sitting in my local PO for 4-5 days before showing receipt of my item. Consequently, it looks like I provide a label and tracking number and then allow the packages to sit in my own house for days when they are actually sitting in the PO. This is affecting my shipping performance. There is no way for me to prove that I mailed them the day of or 1 day after printing a label. What do I do? I can't prove that items are left to sit in my PO.

a) Find a post office that will scan them for you while you wait.

b) Extend you handling time.

4 to 5 DAYS? Thats insane. That CANNOT be right. Can you post an example? Leave the tracking number off and just post the rest. If thats whats happening then you definitely need to be loudly complaining to your postmaster.

Even if the post office does nothing the tracking should at least start when it reaches the local sorting office. They are not supposed to sit on ANYTHING for that long. Thats just ridiculous.

How are you getting the packages to the PO?  Are they picking up or are you dropping off?  If pickup, talk to your postman, he should be scanning when picking up.......if dropping off........talk to your postmaster....yes you can ask to see one.  If the postman is failing, ask the postmaster to retrain...if the postmaster puts you off, call the phone number on the website and report the PO....

Many sellers have had to "train" local PO's to do what their jobs require.....it can be done.

That said.....with the virus stuff, they may be having real staffing problems and the best thing right now may be as advised, take the prepaid packages in and ask for a receipt.....a scan sheet (available in bulk shipping) will help the PO.  Once they scan them for the receipt.....every movement will be on line.........proof that you dropped it off on what day, etc.

Print a SCAN form when you print your labels, and have the Post office scan that when you drop your packages off. OR, still print a SCAN form, and schedule a pickup and then your local carrier will scan the SCAN form at time of pickup.

This is a way to not only simplify number of items needed from 'per package' to only one bar code to scan no matter if you have 2 or 200 packages, but also is a great way to easily make sure the tracking shows it's in possession of the USPS, and not just 'sitting around your home'.

A scan form would help but ultimately if it turns into an issue with your post office, they can always say that "the scan form was scanned but that isn't proof that you handed us the exact amount of packages on the scan form". There's nothing like a physical scan at the counter, I suggest you do that. I have been getting into 1 hour long lines for that very same reason. That attached picture is an average day at the post office these days.

I use scan forms and used one this past Saturday, and have yet to see any physical scans on the packages in my second picture even after 5 days. So use scan forms but be aware that the only tracking update will be "Shipment Received, Package Acceptance Pending" until a physical scan is made on it. I suspect my packages are sitting in a corner of the Post Office, same as your situation. From now on I'm going to insist on individual scans, as you might want to as well.

Likely due to the pandemic, the workload has increased, when people are cuting corners & not doing a good job, you should complain to their management.
