The top rated seller program is a joke. There are too many TRS sellers with too many negative reviews. I sold on ebay part time since 1999 and had 1300+ positives and 0 negatives until ebay allowed a negative review from a compromised buyer.

TRS sellers can be uncaring people who's only goal is to make money. To h--- with the customer. I usually won't buy from a seller without looking at their feedback, 100% feedback included. TRS sellers from foreign countries (I live in the USA) always receive a hard study of their feedback.

Free returns are not always a good indication of an honest seller. Those sellers in most cases just include it in their price.

Just remember, honest sellers make mistakes, but they will almost always quickly respond to a buyers problem, ligament or not.

Are you upset because of a negative feedback? Your first negative always hurts. Real bad. After that you just try to see if you can have it removed, but if not, you just move on. Everyone checks feedback, but unless you are dealing with atrocious feedback, you should not let a few negative feedback prevent you from buying. You are protect in most cases by eBay. And I have to say most TRS sellers do care about their customers. Especially the small and mid level sellers. I think you are really upset with the big TRS sellers.

Don't take it so hard - we all get negs at one time or another.

What is a " compromised buyer?"

One has to look at the negative feedbacks of a seller before making a decision. Case in point, a seller can have 12+ negative feedbacks but they all came from one disgruntled buyer. Doesn't necessarily mean it is a bad seller. Could be one of those bad buyers. One has to also look at buyer feedback to see if they just give out negative feedbacks for no honest reason. I have bought from some sellers with a lot of negative feedback but got great service. Some buyers do get upset with high shipping costs on multiple items.

@beaucoup_bargains

I'm a bit unclear.  What does the TRS program have to do with a negative feedback?

Feedback has not been part of the review process for years and it isn't part of the requirements to be TRS.  With that said, far to often the concerns over negative FB get stated here when a hard working seller such as yourself sees another seller that may have quite a few negative FB but still remain in the TRS program.

Often what gets overlooked is the number of FB that seller has.  10 negative FB on a seller with 4,000 FB is not as impactful as 10 negative FB on a seller with 1,000 FB.  The math counts.  Otherwise it is completely unfair.

Free returns has NOTHING to do with a seller being honest or dishonest.  It is a Return Policy.  There are fabulous sellers with all kinds of different return policies to include No Return policies.  It doesn't mean they are "dishonest" in any way at all.

You are preaching to the choir here.  We all know how it makes us feel to get a negative FB.  But it does happen to some of the best sellers around.
