Ebay is a great place to sell, but the faulty return issues are always looming in the background here and you have to pull teeth to get any justice when one of these buyers pulls a fast one on you. It's  one of few things I hate about this website and it is something that all of us wish would not happen here. Glad you got someone to help you here and let's all remember that these types of situations are not as common as this board would make you believe.

eBay then says that they can't be sure that the buyer scratched a BRAND NEW ITEM!! Oh my, then who did this? My, my, my, I need Lt. Joe Kenda to work on this one. Really?

That number seems very high, I sell a fair bit aswell and use non tracked services and have never in 20 years had anything even close to that kind of loss. Your doing something (I wont say wrong) not typical of standard sellers process. Why delete everything, just shut down all problem areas until you can pin down the leakage. It could be simply entering in non trackable insurance numbers into the ebays tracking system, that would for example cause allot of issues...buyers are maybe more untrusting here than on azn.

In the 2 years of trading with Amazon, we have had only one item not received claim, and 2 items damaged in transit,

To be in the top 1,000 third-party sellers on Amazon by transaction volume, you would have roughly 5000 transactions.

Per month.

I'm sorry this is happening to you. What is baffling to me, though, is why you would choose to sell on eBay when you're having such a great experience at Amazon. If selling on eBay is such a hassle for you, what's the point in doing it?

On eBay, Buyers rule, Sellers drool. There is little in the form of Seller Protection, and being successful in fighting for those rights we do have and availing ourselves of the few recourses open to us in order to do so is arduous, as @tunicaslot's response outlines.

The Money Back Guarantee has opened the floodgates to a deluge of unscrupulous buyers who are all too willing to lie and cheat the system to get a plethora of free stuff. There are plenty of honest buyers, but what you're describing points to the ones who aren't. Who knows why you're attracting them.

So, stay, and prepare to fight.

Or just keep rollin' on The River, where you apparently have a good thing going.

Lots of sellers are always looking to expand their WWW footprints. Just because you are doing well on a venue that you don't own doesn't mean it'll stay like that forever, as many, many eBay sellers have learned over the last several years.

The OP's story is the same one I hear consistently from sellers I network with who stuck their toe in the water at eBay during successful Amazon or Etsy runs- the scams are just off the hook here. Yes, once in awhile there are issues at all other venues but here they are just rampant and eBay seems to take extreme glee in giving away stuff that's not theirs. The habitual outright crooks are here because this is where they're catered to.  Amazon doesn't tolerate it because Amazon owns and sells merchandise right alongside their 3P sellers. It's not profitable for Amazon to allow scamming buyers because unlike eBay, who just keeps the fees as a final kick to a seller after allowing a buyer to mug them, Amazon can actually lose money on scamming buyers.

How do you stay and fight when eBay holds you as your buyer slugs you?

Chaos is NOT an "industry standard".

I am just now getting back an item - sold in NOVEMBER.  The buyer claims it is "broken".  I suspect it is a Christmas present the recipient didnt care for OR the wearer broke it and now wants it replaced forever like Tiffany does.  Im not Tiffany.*  Whatever.  I'll just find a new home for it.

*That should be my new signature block "Im not Tiffany!"

Isn't it strange how we can retain certain things in our memory logs and some things we forget ? When  about 7 years old  one night while sitting next to my grandmother she told me she always did well in school with time table tests except for one ,, 7 x8 = ,, she could never remember that one,, she said just remember its 56 . After that I never forgot what 7 x 8 is. Then there was that horrible incident in the 5th grade  when Mrs Mcman made the whole class write the preamble to the constitution 50 times . To this day I can still recite it . Tulips

Death takes many forms but I'm sure the Kenda remark was in jest . We now will return to our regular programming . 🙂 Tulips

Seems like an odd thing to me and I'm sorry this happened  . However whenever a customer has claimed they never recieved their purchase but the tracking number says they did , e bay has always sided with me and the customer was never refunded by anyone . Granted this has only happened maybe once or twice in all the years I've been selling but still I will rarely send off an order without a tracking number .Tulips
