20 years selling sneakers on ebay with not a single complain from buyers (perfect fb). Until this sneaker authentication process happened and my first sale through this process got returned by ebay because the box (THE BOX! ) had a small dent. The shoes is not even a collectors item, its just a regular running shoe . They decided to cancel the whole thing for this. This is very frustrating cause I dont think i wanna list anymore shoes if a middle man has to decide if its good enough or not. I cant believe after 20 years that it has come down to this for me to quit unless their program gets scraped, as I really see a lot of sellers will have problems with this new rule. I also talked to another seller who sold shoes with proof that it came from nike.com and yet was also returned because ebay cant authenticate it.

had the same issue

Been having the same issues and more. We Noticed, that the more popular and expensive sneakers sit at the hub longer than others

Like others have mentioned there are other forums and platforms that can be used to sell sneakers. I would start with P2P type sites that have no fees, require no shipping and allow the buyer the ability to inspect the item before they purchase it. I can find, on local forums, 175 pairs of sneakers ranging from $2K (Pair of Air Jordan 1's) down to $10 simple no brand sneakers. No fees, no shipping and payment in cash.

What sites are you referring to (P2P) ? I have sold jewelry, designer shoes and bags on here for over 20 years with no issues, but now in this new landscape, i have ZERO confidence sending my personally owned, vintage items to a random “authenticator” where it may sit for weeks, or be damaged before possibly being returned to me!? So where else can we sell our items now that ebay has become so completely unfair for sellers? Thanks for any input:)

I think they are referring to person to person sites like swap meets, flea markets and maybe even antique malls. CL and FB are online options.
Really, any venue that has the option to accept cash for payment.

Ok that makes sense… i have sold a few things on fb marketplace…and i will look into others👍
ebay used to be a lot more seller friendly… i knew it was slipping out of our hands when they made it so sellers can no longer leave negative feedback for **bleep** buyers.
i cancelled a sale just now, and have to refund over $900 because im offended and uneasy that i am supposed to ship to a hub for authentication, by whom? For how long? How will they open/handle/repackage the item? What are their credentials?
no thanks, i def need a new place to sell.

Omg i said c r a p p y and they edited it to”bleep”!?😂

Craigslist and Facebook market place are probably the most recognized ones. There is also a site called Nextdoor but it is not supposed to be used for commercial business listings. There are a number of other sites local to my specific area that I use as well. Some things I flow through consignment auction houses. RASMUS is probably the most wide spread one across the US.

If you are referring to the sneaker authentication hub based on some of the recent postings regarding issues with the authentication center(s) you have good intuition about feeling uneasy.

I believe they authenticate any pair over $100 so maybe selling for 99.99 makes sense (probably shd double check the $ampount not sure if I am 100% right on that)
My son also sells sneakers and says sneakercon is they new kid on the block with a mixed reputation. There have been many complaints on these boards about the authentication process--delays, lack of communication, damage as reported here, etc. eBay made a big deal of this service as they want to compete with well established sneaker and street fashion sites like Goat and StockX.
To build a trusted marketplace in this space, execution is everything. That means for both the buyer and the seller. eBay is a party to the transaction here--they are sneakercons customer not the seller.
Two options: message your complaint on the eBay for Business page on FB or make a complaint to the Better Business Bureau bbb.org (maybe two complaints one of eBay and one on Sneakercon).
Yet another case where eBay is following not leading. And nit even doing a good job following.
One last thing, maybe pose your complain in the weekly chat. be interested to see how they respond.

I've been selling (and buying too) on Ebay since the year 2000. Twenty one years selling mostly high-end men's designer fashion and a perfect 100% positive feedback. Last week one of my listing (Authentic LOUIS VUITTON All-Over MONOGRAM Leather SNEAKERS sz 8 LV | 9 US) sold for $345 w/shipping included. The listing included 15 high-quality photos (5 of them in two collages), showing every single detail of these Louis Vuitton Sneakers. Here's the Item Description I created for this listing:
"International buyers are responsible for all import costs, including custom duties, taxes and fees.
Ideal for every day, these sleek sneakers come in smooth black calf leather with all-over laser-etched Louis Vuitton Monogram pattern and contrasting gum-shade rubber soles.
Very good pre-owned condition, with slight wear signs, mainly on the soles. Super clean. No odors. Very well-cared for.
100 % AUTHENTIC. Authenticity Guaranteed!

The sneakers were shipped, according to Ebay's label, to their Authenticator in Las Vegas, via FedEx-2Day Service.

The sneakers were delivered yesterday (Mon. 9/20/21). Today I received a notification from Ebay letting me know that the Authentication Had Failed, with a comment that "Authenticator Was Unable To Confirm Authenticity" and nothing else!
Minutes later, Ebay initiated a return and refund process that, from beginning to end, did not take more than 1 hour. Talk about efficiency!
Needless to say, I was totally enraged by the stupidity of the "ULTIMATE DECIDER" who is the person appointed by Ebay to infallibly decide what's authentic and what is not.
Twenty one years selling on this platform, with a record showing that I have never sold anything that is not 100% authentic, and still, I'm not afforded the opportunity of a quick consultation (perhaps over the phone) to discuss the problem or the right to appeal this absurd decision.
As if to add insult to injury, Ebay came back minutes later with a deletion of the listing due to the authenticity concern and a warning about their policy.
Knowing what I was against to here, I decided to write a note of apology to the buyer, who graciously gave me a vote of confidence and offered to purchase the very same sneakers once I got them back.
This is all very hard for me to accept, to the point that, unless a rectification is made by Ebay soon, I will seriously consider NOT SELLING items that have to go to an authenticator. That's how bad I think the roll-out of this seemingly (in idea) well-intended program is!
I'm including all the pictures posted in the listing so that you can be the judge too! SHAME ON EBAY and ITS HORRENDOUS AUTHENTICITY GUARANTEE PROGRAM!

Because sellers are selling a lot of fake shoes from china

I inadvertently listed the wrong size on a pair of Golden Goose sneakers, 40 instead of 41. I wear a 40 but the 41 in this style fits like a 40. Pre-Sneakercon this is likely something I could have worked out with the buyer. Post-Sneakercon, everybody loses. Oh, and I also got the “How to Avoid Authentication Issues” helpful reminder message from eBay even though authenticity was never at issue. I will never list sneakers on eBay again.

Those are DEFINATELY Luie's. I have a couple of their purses. They can be faked, but they never look that good. Perfect stitching, perfectly matched leather, immaculate seams and the smell of quality. Just the smell gives them away.
So very sorry!
