sent product but shipping not updating

I sent a product to the customer several days ago, but it isnt showing as shipped in the system. Also, a different product was mailed out the same day as a seperate order, and the one order shows an update in shipping and not the other

Some times the mail carriers don't always scan right away.  You may want to inquire at your local post office and see what the hold up might be.

You haven't given us much information to go on.

• What shipping carrier did you use?
• Did you print the label through eBay, or somewhere else?
• Does the tracking number show on the transaction in eBay?
• What status the shipping carrier's website say about the package?

What you should do next varies greatly depending on the answers to these questions.

one was ebay shipping services with a tracking number starting with ESUS, and the other was USPS, but both were dropped in the same USPS mailbox/

These were mailed several days ago now. plenty of time to update. Plus they were put in the mailbox outside the post office. Those get picked up first lol

4 days is a long time to wait for your first scan from USPS.  I think USPS has a 'Missing Mail' link and you enter the tracking number and they look for it.  I have used it twice through the years and my package started scanning shortly after.

If it was a Standard Envelope, they don't get scanned like other items and might not get any scans.

Recently had an item, shipped with many others, that somehow did not get scanned until it was out for delivery five days later … how this happens when all other packages dropped off were scanned? 🤔 

Fortunate item was delivered, but of course received a ding for “not shipping on time”, even though I did and customer was very happy.

As sellers we can only control so much. Best to stay in touch with customer, be professional and let them know you are looking into it. Customer is less likely to cause issues when they don’t feel ignored.

The eBay tracking status is obtained periodically from the USPS.

So if the USPS has no tracking information, there is no way eBay could.

Your issue is entirely with the USPS and has nothing to do with eBay.

That ESUS number was probably shipped with Ebay Standard Envelope and may never get scanned.

Some sellers get better results than others with ESE.

My experience is if I throw a card in a top loader in an envelope and ship by ESE it might not get scanned or marked delivered, or if it does get scanned it could take weeks before it happens.

You can't expect an item that is about a buck to ship to be scanned as though it is a Priority box with $20 in postage.   You get what you pay for.

I personally don't get the envelope process and an item can be protected with that shipping process. 

Anyway, you should always take the time to walk into the USPS and get them scanned and a receipt.

ESE cannot be scanned at the PO counter and does not get a receipt.

Did you upload the tracking number to your Ebay transaction for the shipping label you did not purchase through Ebay?
