selling off what I have listed and closing my account

I see a lot of people saying they are leaving ebay and kept wondering why and now I know. Being a newer seller Thought hey this is great we can get rid of some stuff make a little cash from home. Boy was I WRONGGGG!

Theres absolutely nothing to protect sellers from unreasonable buyers and god forbid the post office is running behind during a global pandemic, as the seller you better be able to get your first class packages to that customer in 3 days. Even when they can see the item is in transit and late on the post office behalf, they still will message you and want you to tell them something other than what the tracking says.

Ive had customers ask why their item hasnt arrived in 3 days with first class shipping and 24 hours handling when theyve ordered on a friday night, not pay for priority shipping then demand a refund because its been 4 days  (2 of them being sat and sun), ask for returns then wait two weeks to send the mask back (yuck), send messages in the middle of the night and then leave feedback saying I didnt respond...not even 8 hours passed by. Not like sellers are humans and might be sleep or god forbid at work. Even big companies ask for 24 hours to respond. I had no idea buyers can only receive positive feedback and basically theres nothing to protect sellers from these crazy people. No 24 hour window, no system where if there is an issue they have to at least give you a chance to fix it. The number of people who have said I didnt receive my item and it shows delivered, the if you cant guarantee it will get here in 48 hours refund my money ( i did and she still left negative feedback), buyers refuse to read shipping times and can just go in and literally ruin your feedback rating. 100% until the midnight temper tantrum and you ruined my vacation because I waited until the last minute to order a mask and didnt read the shipping times Sally. They wont read the full description, look at pictures, or anything. Reach out to support and of course no support. Ebay makes wayy too much money off sellers and does nothing to help them. This is more of a rant than a question, and the sad thing is the buyers who are really happy wont leave feedback. One lady I spent 3 hours tracking down her late package, she sent me a message saying thanks, you were so helpful,  but of course didnt leave feedback. For a $10 mask, so when you calculate the time looking for the package alone it wasnt even worth it. Amazon may have higher fees but at least you dont have to be a kindergarten teacher to maintain your store.

i make them like my listing says. its really not that strange. we were making a ton of masks at once. and this info was listed in the listing before any of them bought. 2 were mad the characters were turned another way, not 3.

the other was the ididot that messaged in the middle of the night expecting me to respond immediately.

In all seriousness, don't give up!  It looks like you are fairly early into being a seller.  You are learning - why not take what lessons you can to improve your listings OR price in those eventual annoyances?

its not a large number but the bottom line is that there is nothing to protect sellers. like today i just got another message from a woman saying her earring arrived broken, not likely as my wife helps me and shes been shipping jewlery all over the world for 20 years. the kicker is the buyer got the item 28 days ago. I cantake a total loss and send another or refund her and she can still be mad and leave negative feeback. that is my issues, it doesnt matter if its 2 or ten any negative feedback tanks your score and when you have reached out and given a refund or offered a replacement and they want extra stuff or $9 packages overnighted for free, theres no protection for the seller. Again 2 of those I was never even contacted to try and give a solution AND they did not read the description.  the lady complaining I refunded her waited until 7/30 to buy fabric for her masks knowing she was leaving on 8/5 and was mad the order hadnt arrived overnight...the shipping time says 5-6 business days. she emails me and says if it cant get here by 8/5 guaranteed i want a refund so i refunded her and she left feedback acting as though I just refunded her instead of trying to help. the time put into it at this point and the fees are ridiculous if you arent selling large volumes of the same stuff on auto pilot. its just sad that ebay doesnt care about sellers...if no one is listing the stuff people want theyd have no buyers. i buy online my  self and i get people get frustrated, . people know ebay and paypal lean toward buyers and they take advantage of it. being behind a screen allows people to send nasty messages they wouldnt say in person and feel like they got over.

Ebay is not for everyone. One thing I noticed in the rant is when you make a mask it would be prudent for you to make sure the characters are facing the right direction. Don't forget to remove those 25 items you have listed.

You have to put 3 day handling time and then ship the same or next day. Out of 1000 sales this year my shipping metrics are perfect. USPS is very reliable, I don't understand why everyone complains. Maybe no thermal barcode printer?

im shipping from detroit and every single delay ive had has been on there end. i just had to refund a buyer for package that arrived in la yesterday but was due 7/21. ive added 3 days to my handling time but the post office here is killing me. everything is leaving late even though i am physically taking things to the counter to scan them. i really dont think theres anything else i can do right now.

i feel like i have now entered the land of redundant and unhelpful replies to my post. i dont care about paragraphs im not writing a letter, and of course i would have told them to check their tracking.  this is not the only site i sell on. in 5 years on amazon i have never had the level of stupidity and just plan out people trying to get over that ive had in just a few months on ebay.

everything i ship is sent with a tracking number that is immediately uploaded from paypal. i dont know what people arent  getting when im saying the post office is not on time! so i have to refund a buyer who has been waiting on his item since july even though you can clearly see its late in transit. unless i pay the money to have it sent back to me via usps reroute he now has a refund and will still receive his nice new item.

it would be prudent for people to read the description and not buy it if they dont like the way the characters are facing instead of ignorng whats in the listing and buying anyway and complaining. and dont forget to give some helpful advice instead of just commenting to be sarcastic.  what about selling what we already have and moving on were you not clear on captain sarcasm?

i never had issues with usps until moving to detroit. out of ten packages i sent last week  4 are late in transit. i used to be able to drop first class into the box and it allowed ,e to ship every day. now i have to walk in get everything scanned with a receipt and they are still leaving late. its all the post office. ive added a 3 day handling time as a buffer and i still have late packages. i know buyers want their items on time, i get it. its just extremely frustrating when you are doing everything you can as a seller. i mean what can i do about the post office being slow and short staffed in my area? ive considered trying fed ex but id have to charge so much i doubt i would sell anything. the printer doesnt have anything to do with it and im using the same laser printer to print my labels weve used for shopify, amazon, etc.

its not about face masks or fabric so im not sure of your point in stating that? again if she purchased on 7/30 and expecting it to arrive 8/5 with 5-6 business days as the shipping time is unreasonable.
