Did you mean:

scam and fake buyers

Ebay is being over run with fake accounts and buyers who have no intention of paying anything. In my case they bid on a car then ask for all kinds of personal information like a copy of my drivers license. They pretend they will pay by electronic transfer, walmart money gram, stuff like that. It has gotten so bad that I may stop using ebay for large ticket items. The way to ferret out the fake buyers are that most are from Florida, but not all. Many have a zero or less than 10 score. The feed back they do have is worded exactly the same way from several different sources. They file complaints on you and claim they sent payments. Anything they can do to cause you problems. Not sure why they do this, unless its fun to mess with people?

Re: scam and fake buyers

Yup, the scammers are really having a field day on ebay.

You sound like a smarter than average seller so I'm hoping you didn't fall for any of their info requests.  There's certainly no reason for them to need your drivers license other than to scam you.

Pick your payment options and stick to them. NO changes for anyone.  In the event you have a real buyer they will find a way to accommodate your payment options.

Don't stop selling - just keep using your head.

Re: scam and fake buyers

Those car scammers are everywhere.

No way no how would I list a vehicle for sale online. More trouble than it's worth.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Re: scam and fake buyers

Are you aware that motor vehicle sales on eBay are non-binding on either party?

Re: scam and fake buyers

And are you aware that motor vehicle sales are supposed to be paid for in cash when the buyer comes to inspect the car and pick it up?

The way car sales on eBay are supposed to go is this:  The potential buyer comes to the location of the vehicle, bringing cash.  He wants the car? He gives the seller the money, seller hands over keys and title.

He doesn't want it? He walks away.

You will notice that Paypal payment is not mentioned here, although the seller can require a deposit to be paid with Paypal first.

Might be a good time to go back and read all the information in the Seller Center about car sales.

Re: scam and fake buyers

I get several Fake Buyers every month and it's ridiculous!  These people are wasting their lives spending so much time doing this.  They must be lonely and sad people.  I've had repeat fake accounts as in they use the same user name, bid on the same item as they did last time, they win it and then Ebay notifies me that the account isnt a real account and to not make contact with them.  I have blocked these buyers and somehow they are getting through Ebay security and are able to bid.  It's annoying.

Re: scam and fake buyers

Thank you for clearing that up. I was just a fool to consider selling a car on ebay. Glad it was only a pain in the butt. Thanks for the info I was not aware of how to do it with your method. I will just sell like I normally do. Thanks for the comment.

Re: scam and fake buyers

You were not aware of how to do it with my method? To clarify, it's not "my" method.  It's the way eBay recommends that car sales be handled.
