sales w/ taxes added - old and new orders pages and identifying these sales

i just noticed this difference in the old and new orders pages which are not helpful at all to me (and probably others):

- old pages added a note underneath the item sales information denoting that ebay added sales tax as needed.  (i still had to actually open up the sales record to see what i was actually paid because the orders pages show item cost + shipping + sales tax total in what was paid to ebay., not what was paid to seller)

- i do not find the same note or anything else on the all orders page or the awaiting shipment page.

- i am asking basically where to find this information conveniently as the orders pages show item cost and total paid only.  (yet other locations like the overview show the total paid including shipping, which is fine.  but they are including the sales taxes in the numbers also.  for my own records and tax purposes i need to account for what i actually receive - not including sales taxes.  but it seems that ebay is lumping it all together. 

(if i understand correctly this  (sales tax info) is all being gathered and reported to sellers (so they can actually know what they are being paid) if they are signed up for 'managed payments; but where does that leave the rest of us?)  am i missing something?  guess i need to know how i should be identifying the orders with sales taxes and gather the actual figures ....

You aren't seeing the sales tax Ebay collected on your sales record because you are NOT responsible for paying it nor did you receive the money from the buyer for the sales tax.  The buyer paid Ebay and Ebay is responsible for remitting the sales tax to the appropriate state.

If the sales tax were to be on your sales record, then you accounting would be off because it is NOT money that was ever to be paid to you.

Actually you DO see it just not the amount. EBay rolls it into the total amt paid on orders pages.. Making us look up the amt of shipping paid by buyer and doing the math manually to find total amt we were paid for each sale that collected taxes.  I do not know about the rest of you but I record every sale in a spreadsheet so I can do my taxes.  The amt the buyer paid doesn't matter to me, only what I was paid (the difference being the amt of taxes).  And the new orders pages remove the note stating taxes were paid causing additional work just to id those sales.

Which is what I tried to explain.  The amount does not show because it is NOT part of your sales record as a seller.  You do not get the money nor does the buyer pay the money for sales tax to you.

You shouldn't have to do any math.  On your orders page you should be able to see the amount of the product purchased from you and any shipping you had on the listing if required.  If you aren't seeing that, take a look at the Customize box for this section.  You may have accidentally changed something there.

Below is a bit of a sold page of mine.  The total that is on the One that has the note that sales tax applied is the total I received.  You may just need to check that you have all the right columns showing from the Customized function.

I noticed just a couple week ago my sales totals on the order page and the graph on the home page all include sales tax. 

Problem is every day I enter my days sales totals in a spreadsheet for income taxe purposes.

I had to go through months worth of sales to figure out the correct sales amount that didn't include sales tax. Its was a nightmare.

Why do they include sales tax that I never see or collect in my sales totals?

I'm glad I noticed it or I would be claiming income on sales tax Ebay is collecting on my income taxes as income.

i'm glad to see that someone else noticed also and that i'm not (well maybe i am) slightly insane.   there is no benefit included in ebay giving us a total including taxes and then not even identifying the skewed sales record totals to the sellers.  all it does is make it very harder to keep good books.  the managed payments people (unfortunate for them that program) will receive 1099s with correct information (at the end of the year), BUT the small sellers will be very much impacted by this.  the thing is, how do we get ebay to report 'correctly' on the sales pages?  they probably use the totals 'as currently reported' for their own record keeping.  it doesn't benefit them to report it correctly to the sellers, or even identify the sales that have tax to us (as indicated by the removal of the note id'ing these sales records on the 'new' orders pages.

i'm at a loss re ebay's infinite wisdom .... sighs
