Did anything change with Ebay?

I'm having a sudden drop in sales to the US during August 2021

I see a price increase of $10 on shipping your items between July and August but on a $300 item it's not huge.  If I search for spinning wheels there isn't a lot of competition.  Could just be a fluke, hopefully as the cooler months come more people will be working with wool.

In the US it is back to school/college time and a last chance to get in a summer vacation or dodge a hurricane/tropical storm time.  All this affects discretionary spending.  August time is typically slow each year.

Sold for a 41+ year career  and  monthly sales activity went up and down like a yo-yo.

You sell to a very niche market. People's buying habits change. Their interests change. Combine that with eBay has changed.... Cost of shipping has risen.  And even though they would pay tax if purchasing something at a B & M, many buyers are disgruntled by having to pay tax on their purchase; Several years ago, they didn't.  One purchases an item costing hundreds of dollars, the tax add-on is going to be significant.  And as previously mentioned, with forest fires and demon weather, some people have more pressing concerns. As my local big box, and huge variety store parking lots are always full, I don't think this is something that can be blamed on the knee-jerk, go to reason....the economy.

You only list 2 items for sale.  That could be the problem.

Someone posts on this board every week about a sudden drop in sales over past week.

Or over the past two weeks.

Or over the past few weeks.

Or over the past month.

Or over the past two months.

Or over the past few months.

Or since eBay started doing XXX.

Or since eBay stopped doing XXX.

IMHO if you open an incognito browser and can find your items with reasonable searches, the answer is simple supply and demand.

FWIW, I can see your items in search just fine. But I only see two of them. Perhaps everyone who uses eBay and wants a yarn winder has found one by now?

I have just a couple things listed, only BECAUSE of recent no/low sales. it was like, what's the point? So kind of a chicken and the egg scenario.  I decided it might be a good time to take a little stay-cation. 😊

It's just your turn in the black hole of eBay, where you have listings but no one sees them.

You probably need to list more than 2 items to get your items seen, especially on the US site.

Sales are slow here for US Sellers shipping to the US - not surprised they are also down internationally.

Good luck, be safe!

August was the best month I've seen since Feb 2020.

How do your August 2021 sales compare with August 2019? With August 2018?

Because 2020 was such an outlier, with the pandemic surge in online buying it is probably best not to use that for comparisons.

Everyone finds a rythym to sales.

For me, unlike most sellers, the Christmas period is dead, but roars back on Boxing Day until March.

Your mileage will almost certainly vary.
