"Sold Via Promoted Listings" undermy item sold. Have ?

If all my listings are promoted, how can I have the 'sold via promoted listings' showing under the item sold in orders on some and not all?   I don't get it.  If all my listings are promoted, wouldn't every one be found by the buyer as a promoted listing? I know that in the past when a seller promoted a listing it had the regular listing and a 2nd one that was promoted. But, now only the one. Right?

I believe the "only one" applies in the case of a "Best match" sort -- if your buyers are using a different sort, they may still see the non-promoted "organic" listing. If they go from the organic listing to make a purchase without following the promoted link, that would not count as "sold via promoted listing".

You may also get a buyer that clicks your promoted item then clicks on your other items for sale or enters your store and makes a purchase other than the original promoted item they clicked.

Once in your other items those would not be considered promoted. I have several times a buyer has purchased two items and only one was sold with promoted because of this.

because not all buyers purchase through the promoted listings but the normal listings...pretty simple to figure out

The great truth is there isn't one
