"Sent" message folder - I don't get it - someone explain it to me.

eBay messages are messages, not emails.

There is a chain of messages just like text messaging or an online chat - no need (in my opinion) for separate in/out boxes. It's all there in one message stream and switching between inbox (or more specifically, messages from members folder) to the sent folder shows you the same thing. It's redundant; duplication of data.

Archive folder I get. Separation of M2M and eBay msgs I get. Custom folders I get.

Someone explain to me, why is the Sent folder specifically necessary to you, as a seller or buyer, and how do you use it in practice?

There was a big outcry about the Sent folder not existing when eBay started pushing the format to more users in July, and eBay added it back because of that outcry, but I never saw an explanation of why people need it or how they use it.

Is it because it's something you're used to and you don't want it to change? Is it the fact it's different from what you're used to that makes it a problem?

Does it have a true functional purpose for you that cannot be accomplished by a single message folder instead of separate folders?

Messages are the same in both folders. I don't understand the point of the Sent folder.

Please enlighten me.

Sorry didn't mean anything by it.

I get multiple messages. So it's brought down in the general list.

I can just click on sent and the one I was working on last will be at the top.

Tbh I don't really care about it either way.

All eBay messages are integrated to our help desk ticket software. (For the business account ).

And for my personals, I don't get enough messages for it to happen. But oddly I did click the sent section as an easy way to go back on what I last was working on.

Yep - I was going to mention that above - for anybody with enough message volume to significantly impact message sort order, they frequently use third party software to manage it.

Which I believe means most other sellers aren't going to see too much of an impact in the sort order on From Members vs Sent.

Started this thread hoping for that lightbulb moment of a seller explaining a significant function of the Sent folder with the current threaded format since the ask for it was so strong.

Most of the regulars here probably noticed I like to know how things work and recognize the impact of features on sellers and business models of all types. It's one of the things that helps me help everybody that comes here.
