Did you mean:

"Notify me when this item becomes available."

About a month ago I had a potential customer ask me about a item that was out of stock and asked me to notify him/her when I get more.  Due to old age I can't remember what that item was.  What are the chances that ebay would add a "Notify me when this item becomes available" button for items that are out of stock?   Doesn't Amazon have that? Wouldn't that be helpful to both buyers and sellers?

I thought eBay had something along those lines, but...............  due to old age............. I'm not sure.

Not an "available from a particular seller" deal as I remember it.

Do you maybe have an email message about it?

Do you maybe have an eBay message about it?

Re: "Notify me when this item becomes available."

When you trade messages like that with another ebayer,   How about storing the conversation

in "Archive"   is your message folder?

I don't know how long they would stay in storage.

The out of stock would work on people who have stuff set up to be in-stock or out-of-stock, I'm not sure how they set those listings up differently than the fixed price listings I do of one off items (so a remind me when in stock button would not be helpful in my store).

If you can remember any words in the message you were sent, maybe search your emails for eBay messages that contain the following words. I sometimes do that to try and find a customer I regularly send info for when new things get added. I never remember their ID, but I remember enough of what they're looking for to do a search and find a message from them. (Remembering their last purchase helps, but that only works for me if the stuff bought it unique or memorable... if it's just stamps or banknotes, I won't remember either).

Re: "Notify me when this item becomes available."

Great idea! and it should be in a 'simple' system separate from all the other 'wonderful' (archive) systems that are there;

A simple 'It's Back in Stock' message that AUTOMATICALLY goes out to buyers when a seller 'replenishes' something.

Simply Easy

Simply Brilliant

That's why ebay pays me the big bucks.    😉

In my email I star anything that I find to be important. Buyer messages don't usually get stars for long (Unless I read them at work and intend to reply later), or I'd have a whole bunch of starred buyer messages to look through.

I don't really use the eBay messaging system that much unless I have to go into a message to look at photo attachments or something I can see in my email. (Buyers are often sending me photos of their "cart" to try and get an invoice without committing to pay because eBay is trying to charge full shipping prices).

@dirk12955

Yes, you could create a special folder for those types of messages. I don't believer there's a limit on storage time for messages in user-created folders (though I could be wrong).

Physical note?  What's that?

How about a voice reminder on my cassette player?    😉

I think you're talking as a buyer, they just need to save the search for that item, and will get some email when available again

What you're describing means if the item is available on eBay from some seller... OP wants to send a note that HIS item is available again to the buyer who is looking at his item.

eBay erases most received messages after ninety days, regardless of which folder they are in, though I can see my own Sent messages going back about six months.

If you have eBay messages forwarded to your email, you may be able to find your eBay messages in your email archives.

I believe it is also possible to download a report which contains message text, but that takes a week or so to generate the report.

Do you delete your messages?  Why can't you look that up?  Sounds like such a first world problem to me.  😛  You know I like to needle you, my friend.  lol
