I just received this email from eBay and, well, I don't understand it.
"To ensure a smooth transition on May 16th, we encourage you to remove conditions and grades as variants in your listings starting today, and to update your item descriptions to accurately describe the product condition."
In other words, please remove condition notes and update or create new listings with condition notes? Is there an international standard of condition grading and they haven't told us? Anyone?

I have no idea what they are talking about. I'm guessing there is no way to respond. Maybe go on Facebook, search for eBay and paste the note and ask if anyone knows what that means. Or maybe someone will show up here who understands.

PS "Condition" is not plural, it applies to the overall state of the item, so "conditions" is not the right term here.
One can describe conditions for a contract, i.e. these conditions must be met, but that isn't used for an object.

We can only hope!

My understanding is this change only applies to specific categories (electronics, video games, cellphones, cameras, tools, appliances) and only if you listing "multiple items" in one listing. They are eliminating the column which shows condition of item "grade A, B,C". They want you to create "separate listing" for every different grade.
For any listings with condition or grade related Multi-SKU variants within these categories, you will need to create new listings for each variation by May 13, 2022. After this date any listings still containing condition or grade related Multi-Sku variants will be ended.

- Create a new listing for each condition variation (Grade A, Grade B, etc.) in the Used item condition.
This is correct - if you have a listing with multiple items and one is open, 1 is not, etc.
Recd the same email - applies to 1 listing where both are new/sealed, but 1 has a minor tear in factory plastic. What a pain.

Oh! Wow, I totally didn't get that. I've never figured out multi-item listings, so I won't worry my blond/gray head about it. 😄

So, they just sent that to every seller with any listing in one of those categories?

And the email starts "To reduce buyer confusion"... while increasing confusion for everyone, buyers included.
So wait, if I list an SLR with lens in "very good condition", ebay will reject the listing? Or is it only for listing with options in a drop-down menu (choose SLR or lens)?
Over the years, I can't think of a single ebay's "improvement" that ever made the platform simpler, easier to use, or more efficient.

It does make one wonder if any of them actually USE the site.
The prompts for various categories don't often apply (e.g. "Brand" for handmade items, etc.)

Most likely not.

As a retired editor, I love it when a grammarian surfaces in a tech discussion. Makes my day...in the best way.

Hi all. For example then, a seller can't list a custom bundle of used video games? Is that right? Thanks.

I had no idea what the email was about, I just deleted it. I figured if it were that important someone at eBay would have written it in comprehensible English

Hi all! @katzrul15 and @caldreamer understand this change to work the same way I do. I'll try to reach out and see what additional clarification I can get though. In the meantime, if you don't have custom multi-SKU variant options in your listings for the stated categories, then it sounds like this change will not apply to you.
