Did you mean:

"I absolutely hate returning things so I never do"

This is how a buyer started her message to me when she opened a return for a hat that is too big for her. She paid $15 for the hat.

"I absolutely hate returning things so I never do"

But she does accept partial refunds? 🙂

That must make you feel privileged and a special case.

Counting to at least several hundred before you reply will help.

I call these "punitive discounts" coined after the civil lawsuit term "punitive damages." This is where the buyer isn't happy with the item, doesn't want to return it, but they can be persuaded to like if they are given a partial refund. I always call their bluff and approve the return.

They're certain that a partial refund will magically make their head grow to fit the hat.

That's pretty funny... reminds me of something that happened last week.

I ordered Chinese food and got a free hair (that wasn't mine) in my order of mu-shu. My friend asked if I was going to drive across town with the food to complain, and I said "getting my $12 back isn't going to change the fact I had a bowl of food before I noticed the hair". The solution was to throw the food out and never go back to that restaurant. I'm convinced a refund isn't going to make me feel any better about this experience. "I'm sorry we got hair in your food, here's your money back, please come back again soon."

It would benefit the credibility and transparency of eBay to present a return score rather than an irrelevant feedback number for buyers.

And cancellation requests filed. I don't even know if ebay still discloses a buyer's bid retraction count anymore.
