New York Times article about The sad tale of a guy who just wanted to make a buck...............

Is it any wonder the stores were sold out and old folks (such as myself) couldn't purchase any???

He will probably still have 17,699 bottles left, by the time this is over - and by then, nobody will even remotely want to pay the price he had in mind.

Hahaha... and now he can't buy toilet paper to dry his tears.

My heart bleeds purple peanuts for him - he gets what he deserves - nothing. I am amazed at the greed of some people. Eventually there will be more product available on the shelves and his purchase will decrease in value. Remember when Hostess stopped making Twinkies? That'a different as production stopped (for a while) - those were selling for 1000's. I wonder how foolish these folks felt who bought them once production came back. Production has not and will not stop for sanitizer, anti-bacterial cleaners, toilet paper, etc. Actions such as his warrant no respect and certainly not sympathy. At least from me.
Thanks for posting the info.

Some things never change. Most people don't learn from the experience(s) of others - never have, never will.
At Christmas time it is the new hot toy(s), and everybody goes around cleaning off the shelves so they can list them online. Last year, this year, next year, .....

When did hand-washing and having hand sanitizer around, fall out of fashion? I learned long ago that if you have those items, along with some Lysol spray, in your cupboards at all times, you will be ready for whatever comes down the pike. It's the same as if there was an aspirin shortage... Who doesn't have at least one bottle in the medicine cabinet, on hand, at all times. I even have hand sanitizer in my car and always have had. I can't imagine a gas pump handle is any too sanitary.

I have some nice names to call these guys, but I don't want to be forum banned, so I'll leave it at that.
"On March 1, the day after the first coronavirus death in the United States was announced, brothers Matt and Noah Colvin set out in a silver S.U.V. to pick up some hand sanitizer. Driving around Chattanooga, Tenn., they hit a Dollar Tree, then a Walmart, a Staples and a Home Depot. At each store, they cleaned out the shelves.
Over the next three days, Noah Colvin took a 1,300-mile road trip across Tennessee and into Kentucky, filling a U-Haul truck with thousands of bottles of hand sanitizer and thousands of packs of antibacterial wipes, mostly from “little hole-in-the-wall dollar stores in the backwoods,” his brother said. “The major metro areas were cleaned out.”
What lowlife slugs! Screw rural folks, so what if we can't get it. It's okay if us country hicks die so y'all city slugs can stay safe. I wish only the worst for these guys. I hope the local health authority confiscates their stash and gives it to people that need it. What a bunch of low life jerks!

In their 'silver SUV' - ooo...ooo...

Karma will always catch up with some fools, as these two brothers found out. I have zero sympathy for them.
Maybe they could have a garage sale or even better, give them away to whomever needs some.

Meanwhile the old woman down the street not young like mr horde is a bit slow to the chase, dies weeks later without sanitizer, mask, TP or any canned food but cream corn. ..Keep your neighbors in mind, many may need assistance in coming weeks.

I just read that article this morning, that guy got what he deserved! He was clearly trying to rip off consumers and he put others health at risk as many were unable to get hand sanitizer no thanks to his greed.

'Ya know...I have no problem if someone buys a few things off the store shelf at a good price to try and make a buck. More power to them, I'm pretty sure the majority have done that at one time or another.
But to rent a U-Haul and go store to store to store for a total of 1300 miles, purposefully cleaning out entire stocks from rural stores just so they can turn a fast buck?? To me that's despicable.
Why the heck just not place bulk orders from wholesalers?? They could have saved themselves a whole lot of time and money just by bulk ordering from Dollar Tree, and saved the rural stores' stock for the local residents. Not only are they despicable, they're stupid.

I read the article too, but I don't see where he got what he deserved?
If I read it right, he's already made thousands upon thousands of dollars of profit already, even factoring in his initial investement to buy them all.
Right?
