"He has 17,700 bottles of Handsanitizer and nowhere to sell them"..................

New York Times article about The sad tale of a guy who just wanted to make a buck...............

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/14/technology/coronavirus-purell-wipes-amazon-sellers.html

Is it any wonder the stores were sold out and old folks (such as myself) couldn't purchase any???

I guess I'm more aware/appreciative of hand sanitizer lately because I spend ample time@work with people in their 80s/90s. How odd is it that I feel safer snuggling with a four-month-old then hugging grown adults?

As for the well-water,we have it checked routinely (&the septic too) to hopefully keep it safer.

IMHO... shouldn't be odd. If this thing gets you, it gets you. IMHO there is nothing you can really do about it.

Take precautions like you would the flu. Its all you can do. Useless to freak out or act out of character over this.

If you have to stay inside, government otherwise, do it. National guard is providing food to those who cannot provide for themselves. Look at whats going on in New Rochelle, NY.

Its not ideal. We're going to get through it. At this point, you have to believe that the government services you've paid for all these years will do something for you. If they won't you're going to have to deal with it. I see no indication that we are being abandoned by our government.

In my opnion, step back. Take a breath. Do what you can. Its all you can do.

True, true. It's not me that I worry so much for, it's them. I don't wish to give anyone more health issues than they already have, including new beautiful baby in my life.☘️

Your baby is going to make it and you're going to have one hell of a story to tell them when they get older.

This person’s account should be suspended and the same goes for everyone trying to sell 1roll of TP for $5 and then $20 shipping.

this is outrageous and EBay should be shutting down and making a loud and clear statement this will not be tolerated

I suspect I'll be challenged so I guess I better go look it up.

There are probably loads of relevant studies.  The first one I saw found that plain water removed a lot but soap made a big difference:

As I said...

look at the last graph for multiple isolations. 1% versus zero....

I don't deny soap helps.... 1%????

@magbenv0

I am old and was raised on a farm where we were pretty self-sufficient except for the few paper products we used and some spices and sugar.

We made our own soap.  I don't remember the formula off the top of my head but it was strong and the work soap would take your skin off - but it worked.  We would not have heard about the virus until someone went to town for something or someone came by the farm to pick up something (like food, eggs, beef, hams, apples, cherries, peaches, beans, canned tomatoes, etc.)

We have lost a lot of collective knowledge with our 'civilized' society, sadly.

to simple he has already made his money back. There needs to be some penalty. How about authorities have him drive back to all the stores that he cleaned out and stand outside and give one away to every customer with an apology note for what he'd done.

I read online that Tennessee DA was involved and ordered brothers to stop selling the goods. I believe there will be a fine imposed onto them

I've always much admired  & envied people (and communities) who were able to be mostly self-sufficient, it's not the easiest way to live by no means. Much simplier to just drive to the store or go online & buy whatever.  I can make candles,cook/bake from scratch, grow vegetables, do some canning & raise chickens & goats, but my knowledge pretty much stops there. Tho I do wish I knew more. If the Amish ladies near me ever started a class to teach you how they do all they do, I'd sign up! ☘️

Re: "He has 17,700 bottles of Handsanitizer and nowhere to sell them"..................

Mr. Colvin said he was simply fixing “inefficiencies in the marketplace.” Some areas of the country need these products more than others, and he’s helping send the supply toward the demand.

“There’s a crushing overwhelming demand in certain cities right now,” he said. “The Dollar General in the middle of nowhere outside of Lexington, Ky., doesn’t have that.”

He thought about it more. “I honestly feel like it’s a public service,” he added. “I’m being paid for my public service.”

***********

Isn't that a hoot.

The afternoon of 9-11 on the drive home I passed a WareCo convenience store we always gassed up at.  They'd raised their gas prices to $10/gal.  A sign appeared in the driveway a few days later with a "we're sorry" message but I for one never stopped there again.  I wouldn't be surprised if they're received phone threats.

SO typical of the millenniums. They have a very skewed look at everything and it all comes back to self-justifying their unethical actions.  They have no respect for their families or the communities they live in.

I have to say that stores like Dollar G, Walmart, Target, etc really dropped the ball. They put profits over ethics when they let these people come in and buy cartloads.
