I sell mostly used, antiques, collectibles....one offs. I switched to GTC last Sept because I didn't want to have to manually relist stuff during 4th Quarter. Because I don't sell repeatable or multi quantity, it's hard to precisely gauge the effect it had on my sales. I kept using it after Q4 because I like the time it saves me. I have started to review and/or revise a few listings on a daily basis, and if I feel a need I can always end a listing before it rolls over. My listings are long tail items, so I'm used to some of them taking many months to sell, before the right buyer shows up. GTC means I can just keep them up without having to relist every month.

I don't know anything about your business, so can't really offer any advice, other than to say, it hasn't been a problem for me, and it's been a time saver.

I sell items that take a little longer then 30 days to sell.

I tried the 30 day listings when I started, but after awhile, it seamd like all I was doing was relisting.

I switched to GTC and no way I would go back to 30 day listings.

I hear some saying they like the 30 days because they can look at the listing and make any changes they think it needs.

You can do the same thing with GTC.

If you are worried about the fees, stay under the listings you have every month and you won't have to worry about them.

Another way to look at it, if the item is sitting in your unsolds, ya ain't gonna sell it.

Have A Great Day.

I am in the same situation. I will be checking out Amazon due to this new policy.

I'm going to try Amazon. I've been thinking about doing this for a while but this is the push I needed to actually look into it.

No. I hate it actually. I'm hoping they recognize what a garbage idea this is and go back to making it an option.

Re: "Good To Canceled " new for fixed pricing

I listed items both ways this year. Good till canceled had significantly higher views and watchers and significantly lower sales over the same time period. I foresee this dropping my sales by 70-80% Currently looking into moving towards other online marketplaces to offset expected decline in sales through eBay.

It a new thing for ebay to get more cash flow I called them and being a seller here for 12 years this is going to be the month I phase out on ebay. The 30 day is just the start of it soon it will be all listings until canceled this is the word I got from ebay when I called them 2 hours ago 7 and 10 day listings will be next for this change is what I was told by the ebay associate when I called.

Re: "Good To Canceled " new for fixed pricing

I have been using GTC for years only because I have ALS and it takes me up to one hour to list one item. I can till you that GTC listings sink way down in to the hole. Last year I deleted about 80 listings, about 2 week's work. I took a few months off and only left a few listings on. Then I started over. Now, some of my listings are so far down in the hole they will never be seen. Every one is in the same club now. You can mix in a few auctions though. It might help.

Yeah, that complaint is one that I honestly don't understand at all.  I revise my listings while they're still running all the time... if I see that something could be improved, why wait until it ends when I could revise it right now and potentially reap the benefits of doing so?

Which in my case are already averaging 40%. It's a Soros thing. I will let them run out. Better to sell $10 item at yard sale or flea market for $4. Or even smash on ground.

Re: "Good To Canceled " new for fixed pricing

I've been on eBay off and on since around 2000. I'm letting my listings drop off and just list a few here and there to get my inventory gone. Then I'm cancelling my subscription when I get a few more months in. It's not worth it

Re: "Good To Canceled " new for fixed pricing

I am a small seller also. I don't like being forced to have to use the "good til canceled." I am not going to pay a bunch of fees. I guess if they don't give the sellers a choice, I will have to make my own choice and go  somewhere else to sell or quit all together.  It will be too big of a pain to try to remember to cancel before they end. I feel if they don't change this they will lose sellers. If they don't have sellers they won't have buyers, so how do they think they are going to profit from that. I have heard more and more people are already going somewhere else to sell since eBay's  making more and more changes. It seems they are in favor of the buyers over the sellers but if they don't take care of their sellers there won't be any buyers.

Re: "Good To Canceled " new for fixed pricing

It's more than just changing the listing. In my case, I sell a few things here, on other platforms, and also do in person sales. I have a lot of things to keep up with, and this just gives me one more. With the 30 day limit, I could let something run it's month long course, then decide if I wanted to relist, leave it down, make changes, etc. I'm getting beaten half to death by fees, plus I carry a lot of sports memorabilia which people are willing to pay less and less for these days, so I rely somewhat on those free listings. When I end up burning a hand full because I was a few minutes too late getting back in to take something down because it rolled over, it can throw the rest of my month off. In short, it's just a pain in the ass.
