Buyer purchased on 10/2. Delivered 10/9.
Emails yesterday to tell me they "found it cheaper" and they wish to return it as it is a Christmas gift, has not yet been opened or used.
They are past the 30 days, and I replied as to same.
They indicated that e-Bay stated we should accept the return anyway.
Had not yet replied to the 2nd email, was pondering my reply.
Received a chargeback on this order about an hour ago - "not as described".
Really? So this is what it came down to?
30 day returns are not actually applicable as the Buyer will work it to their advantage, no matter what?
No way now to do anything about a return, as it is now a chargeback. E-Bay should allow a Buyer to pursue one claim silo at a time.
Let the Reindeer Games BEGIN!
BTW - not that it likely matters, but this Buyer is also a Seller - a Seller of Legos......which is what was purchased from us. ugh.

Report the buyer for filing a false claim.
Every holiday the abusive claims roll in. Last year was the worst for us - hope this year doesn't come anywhere near what we went through last year.

if ebay cares about sellers they would at least ban the person from buying or selling on ebay.

I suppose there is some advantage of simply closing down one's eBay store or sales for November and/or December every year.
Truly sorry this happened to you. Be sure to point out in your JPG. that the buyer did not adhere to the 'time frame for a return (policy)' along with the message from the buyer stating they simply found one cheaper. C.card companies DO look at return/refund policies if eBay would be so kind as to forward the information on your behalf. Otherwise, your buyer will not have TWO of the same thing.
Good luck.

Tis the season.
You got your jokers that mess around with winning bids and don't pay and hold up your item for 5 days.
You got the the bottom feeders that want gift cards with their fake purchases.
And of course you have the smarty bums that do charge backs and keep item.
They all come out in droves this time of year, respect and honesty are from Christmases past.

Good grief.....
This is what I have been complaining about. Buyers STEALING stuff and we sellers get hung out to dry. If you win, that would be great. But are you willing to make a bet if you win the chargeback? My magic 8 ball says "fat chance".
I don't understand how this happens all the time and a team of ambulance chasers have not found a way to cash in on it. At this point, my bet is this has passed MILLIONS in fraud/theft. February can't come fast enough to get off the yearly subscription. Ugh.

This is the reason why I do not take returns...... that being said (As a top rated seller) ebay punishes you for that since the work around for the buyer is opening up a SNAD.........
If I've said it once I've said it a hundred times on this forum.....ebay needs to purge the bottom 3-5% of the buyers on the site.
The small % of buyers like this cause 90% of the issues. You would think that ebay would do this as a cost cutting measure because culling buyers would reduce 80% of the calls to ebay support

eBay couldn't care less how many people call the so-called eBay "support."

This is the reason why I do not take returns
---------------------------------------------
Not taking "remorse" returns just cuts out a step for the buyer. They can just go straight to the "not as described" at the location of their choice to return, or be refunded without return.

I accept the rare return filed between day 31 and day 90.
That enables me to get the merchandise back and relist it 97% of the time.
My willingness to accept the return removes the incentive the buyer has to leave me a negative feedback.
The alternative, refusing the return, leads to me not getting the merchandise back and having to refund through a chargeback anyway.

I'd be worried abut what you get back.
I had not formally refused the return, but did reply to the Buyer/Seller/Fraudster, that it was over 30 days.
They then replied "e-Bay thought I should/would/could take the return anyway.
Had not yet replied - Boom - chargeback.
This site makes me nutz. It is so **bleep** hard to "win" as a Seller.
Guarantee I will not be the only Seller facing this "found it cheaper" mantra.
Amazon is slashing prices daily, so is Wally and Target.
You truly cannot spend the money you make on here - not for months and months!! 😡

In situations such as this I contact ebay by requesting a call back. If the first agent doesn't help... I get off the phone and do it again...and again until I get help. So far it has worked for me... I would suggest doing this and NOT letting this lame buyer/seller get away with this sick game

Exactly what I do every year starting right after Thanksgiving. I prefer to enjoy the holidays.

It happens on eBay claims because eBay covers the buyer for about anything under the MBG especially when it comes to NAD.
It happens with a chargeback simply because the buyer is covered by a number of federal laws.
