Did you mean:

"Found it Cheaper" has Already Started - Not even Thanksgiving yet!

Buyer purchased on 10/2.  Delivered 10/9.

Emails yesterday to tell me they "found it cheaper" and they wish to return it as it is a Christmas gift, has not yet been opened or used.

They are past the 30 days, and I replied as to same.

They indicated that e-Bay stated we should accept the return anyway.

Had not yet replied to the 2nd email, was pondering my reply.

Received a chargeback on this order about an hour ago - "not as described".

Really?  So this is what it came down to?

30 day returns are not actually applicable as the Buyer will work it to their advantage, no matter what?

No way now to do anything about a return, as it is now a chargeback.  E-Bay should allow a Buyer to pursue one claim silo at a time.

Let the Reindeer Games BEGIN!

BTW - not that it likely matters, but this Buyer is also a Seller - a Seller of Legos......which is what was purchased from us.   ugh.

Re: "Found it Cheaper" has Already Started - Not even Thanksgiving yet!

I have gotten a couple of eBay surveys and both times they asked if I felt protected as a seller.  Strongly disagree!  This would have been a really good example to give them.  I did say that sellers had no protection and buyers can do as they please with no repercussions.  This is just terrible.  So sorry.

Frustrating - even Amazon enforces 30 day returns most of the time - especially if there is a Buyer history of abuse, returns, etc.  Especially on Amazon's dime (which includes FBA).

I get it - but it is nearly impossible to win a chargeback and the Buyer clearly has remorse on the purchase (found it cheaper is a remorse return) and had it not been a high-value set, I likely would have worked with them to return it on their dime.

Understand how it works on here - just unhappy that it persists, but the reality is, it does.

Retailers are hurting right now and some things (especially certain types of tech/electronics, will likely be cheaper as we get closer to Christmas.  Even Target is heavily discounting Legos right now - which is typically not something that occurs on that product line.

I have reached out on social media with e-Bay and have reported the Buyer.  Screen-captured the email asking for a return well over the 30 days and the date/time and have sent that along, indicating that when the Buyer did not get an immediate "green light" on the return, they filed a chargeback instead.

Have really low expectations on the outcome, but will keep at it until defeat occurs.  Thx for your words of encouragement.

You only get one shot at fighting a CCCB so make it count.

Type all relevant information to the case into a word doc and copy and paste any photo proof - feedback, messages, correspondence, everything you can into that document. Also you should include in the document that you request the return of the item before the case is closed.

Take a screen shot of the document and upload it as a jpg into the case.

Responded to the Chargeback with a jpeg file as you suggested - will see where it goes from here.  Sometimes takes a little while for them to decide - sometimes it is almost instant you lose.  Thanks for the reminders on how to tackle!

It's like the return counter at stores after Christmas.

SUBMIT. Submit to the reality that you will not win any way you roll the dice.  The only thing you can do is try to minimize(damage control) your time and money lost for a transaction that did not work out. That includes racking your brain out believing eBay will back you in any way shape or form. Ain't gonna happen. Ignore your personal feelings and go with the flow. In the end, you will have at least created less stress for yourself and only have lost a few bucks in shipping(business expense). I have been there and done that. I wish you luck.

With all due respect, you can't believe reporting a buyer does any good other than to make the person reporting it to feel better. I have been here for 23 years and couldn't begin to tell you how many times nothing happened after reporting it. I don't waste my time anymore. Just my opinion. Have a great day!

You sort of answered your own post.  eBay does not care. That has been established 3 trillion times over. That's like a Sasquash sighting. You believe that you saw one once, but in the end, it never really happened. Have a good day!

I would go with your magic 8-ball every time. I should get myself one of those.

Re: "Found it Cheaper" has Already Started - Not even Thanksgiving yet!

Sadly, "found it cheaper" seems to have been part of the eBay strategy for awhile now. Ever since they started sending those "convenient" emails to let buyers know there's a cheaper option that coincidentally didn't show up in search at the time and will lead to a sponsored purchase.

@oldwestgold

@wastingtime101

I do report them, but you are correct, it does not "seem" to do anything.

However, e-Bay has stated that if you report a Buyer and there is a claim, they will take the claim more seriously on behalf of the Seller as a buyer "report" exists.

Might not be the case, but I do report the Buyer, just in case e-Bay actually does "weight" it differently.

"FOUND IT CHEAPER" is not a reason or an excuse for a return from a purchase over 48 days ago.

fight it to the max if they open a claim of being a full fledge scammer.
