I have been gradually buying less and less on eBay over the past year or so. The new extra step of clicking "description" so that the page can be covered with stupid sponsored and similar ads where the description used to be is the last straw. I won't buy anything else on eBay again. Yes, I sell here, but at this point, I don't care if anyone buys from me or not. Frankly, I hope enough other people are as fed up with the ads and extra steps to see a listing that nobody buys from me. Nothing is ever going to change for the better here until the morons at the top fail, hopefully sooner rather than later.

I find it funny that eBay probably thinks they are upgrading and innovating and mainstreaming the user experience.

I'm buying less on Ebay because my favorite sellers left.

As if all of the annoying clickity-click-click features aren't bad enough, the poor sellers here are losing their competitive edge because of increased % fees. I just spent a few hundred dollars at you know where on 3 items because they were cheaper there... that almost never happened a few years ago but I'm finding it more and more affordable to shop there than here and it's sad.
eBay keeps making it more challenging for these sellers and they are going to be the ones holding the bag in the end.
I do sell here and I am fortunate to have a niche that isn't flooded with myriads of other sellers so I don't personally have a problem selling when I have the time but for the other sellers who rely on selling here...whoowee!
I used to hate the other sites search engine and general formatting but in the past few years the search engine and general formatting HERE gets worse and worse too!
...oh wells...🙄

There is nothing else to buy here, the sellers are running. I had to find a better place to leave my money. Thank you eBay for that.

Hard to keep up with eBay's tinkering.
Is this a test rollout, or something that's browser-specific? All the listings I look at on desktop are displaying full descriptions without an extra click to view.

It seems like they are doing "controlled testing" to various accounts and then reading the feedback left. Right now i am seeing the best version so far.... all seller info and only 1 row of sponsored listings cutting the page in half instead of 2. We are getting there ebay= just get rid of that last row that distracts users away from the listing that ALREADY want to buy and put all PL at the bottom of the page! If promoted listings are so amazing and drive more sales- why are you afraid to put them at the bottom?
Scary thing is-all those items that show up in promoted listings spot ARE NOT SHOWING UP INTHE GENERAL SEARCH. that is why ebay sales are plummeting! When you search as a buyer, you are shown a tiny fraction of the genuine relevant results because the listings that match the query are tied up in promoted listings that are shown in other seller's listings INSTEAD of the search!!!!
Ebay is basically neutering the search and hoping that people find stuff on their own by aimlessly clicking around PL carousels.

If this is a test that not everyone has seen, the screenshot below shows where you would normally see a description, you instead see similar sponsored items. The seller that dominates all of the unwanted sponsored garbage on this example is a seller I hate, so their ads have been blacked out. I won't give them any more exposure than what they already pay eBay to list 1000s of things they don't actually possess.

Where have you gotten that information?

Yeah I've seen this... funny thing is that I didn't even know that it's a new ad ribbon.😂😂😂
They have flooded every nook that they can find with ads so it's gotten to the point that I don't even notice if there is yet another ribbon of ads... kinda gotten to be like visual white noise.
Smells like desperation to me.

just makes lots of extra work for sellers who already took time to add photos and specific details. Buyers are asking for all the details the seller already put in the listing. I have 4 Ebay sites but buy on Amazon.
