Hey everyone.
Has anyone else had the "best offer" option start showing up on auctions?
I typically use the "best offer" option on my BIN fixed price listings, but I've never heard of it showing up at auction before. I didn't even think it was possible to have an offer feature on an auction, but it's showing up on everything I list today. Obviously, when I list an item at auction, the minimum bid is the lowest I'll accept, so I don't even see why eBay would consider making this an option. I already get plenty of lowball offers & the last thing I need is offers below my minimum bid, and there's not even a BIN price on these listings.
I list several items a week for auction, and I didn't do anything different this time, so I'm wondering why it's showing up, or if there's something in my default settings that was somehow changed?
Is it visible on a page that's not my account?
I called eBay CS, but all they could really tell me was that it SHOULDN'T be an option, and ask me to decline any offers I recieve while the auction is running.
Anybody else running into this??

I remember now that when using the Quick Listing form that BO is enabled on BINs automatically but this is not so with the Advanced form.
Is this now a similar thing with auctions?
The new "Make Offer" on an auction is triggered by eBay when eBay estimates that the Seller's "Starting Price" on the auciton (without a Buy It Now price) is higher than the "going price" for the same item.
None of this can be set or controlled by the Seller when creating or revising/editing the Auction listing. I use the Advanced Listing Form. I can't speak for the Quick Listing form, but assume it's not addressable there either.

Hi everyone,
I wanted to step in and provide an update on this topic. We have identified an issue where the Best Offer option was incorrectly added to some auction listings that were created between October 8th and 10th. We are actively working on a fix for the impacted listings. We have identified affected sellers and will email them with further instructions. We will be testing this feature with a small number of lower-volume consumer sellers in the coming weeks.

I get this warning:

Could you tell those responsible they'd be better off giving store owners free BINs on auctions?
And trash this dumb de-hancement?

Need to toss it on some of your valet sellers and some of the diamond level folks rather than disrupting smaller sellers listings during the holiday selling season...

If ebay feels a burning desire to stick their nose in where it doesn't belong just take it a step farther don't allow any listing to be listed that the price is above your so called trending price if it can't be sold at the trending price or below then the item needs to be listed elsewhere... There are plenty of other features that are broken and have been broken for months that should be attended to and repair before plowing into something else right before the holidays...

Absolutely right, looking, but this way, the buyer can choose the price to offer. They may not like that 30% extra that Ebay requires you to use for the BIN.
Just a thought.

BIN and BO are two different things. One is not a substitute for the other.

What happens if you add a "Buy it now" option on the auction (other than incurring a little listing upgrade fee)?
If eBay is now saying they are only adding the make an offer when a seller starts a auction listing price for higher then similar items have sold for in the last 90 days. That's simply not true, this item that has started for $1 has never sold for under a $1 or even near $1. during the last 90 days.

Well I'm the seller and I don't like it either, but doesn't mean I want a BO slapped on my listing lol

I'm a low-volume seller and they changed my 6 BIN $10 postcards to best offer over $5 today. I changed them right back. If I wanted to sell a card for five dollars free ship I'd do so, if i wanted to go broke selling postcards. <expletives deleted>
They mey not sell at my price, but it's my price where I can make a couple of dollars.
