phishing in profile

I received an offer and when I accepted the user wouln't not pay.  When I went to their profile it turned out to be a phishing scam.  Their profile contained a phone number and instructions on calling / testing them.  I can find no way to report this user through the system.

Also now I cannot relist my item for sale.  Very bad customer experience.  Any suggestions?

Re: phishing in profile

They have 4 days to pay, if they don't, on day 5, cancel the order for nonpayment and add the member to your BBL

Have a great day.

Re: phishing in profile

Your user ID was created 4 days ago (Nov 15, 2023) and registered in the USA, but does not appear to have posted any listings for sale at all.

What is the item number for the item you are complaining about?

@chrisru_8617

Are you sure the offer you received was through ebay and through the listing?

Re: phishing in profile

Finally got a hold of an agent and I was indeed attacked by a hacker.  They secured my account and locked the listing.  Unfortunately for me that means I have to relist.  Oh well.

If that really happened, then the listing was not on eBay. That just doesn't happen on eBay. Listing don't just disappear without a reason.

If you post an item number, we can take a look at it and try to help you. Otherwise, there is nothing that we can do.

Re: phishing in profile

So relist it this way...buy it now, immediate payment required and no best offers.  You will get more serious buyers.  Trust me.

I know you are new, so some of your word choices will mean something to seasoned sellers that may be something totally different to you.

Did you actually do the procedure to Cancel the transaction?  If so, you had to choose a reason for the Cancellation, what reason did you choose?

When you Cancel a transaction, it does NOT just go POOF with no trace it ever happened.  So if you would take a moment and tell us, in detail, what you did to cancel this transaction.

IDK how or why a CSR would have told you that you were "attacked by a hacker".  What did they say they did to "secure your account"?  And what did they mean or do to "lock the listing".

How did you contact Ebay?  Did you do an internet search or something else?  Did you use the link for Customer Service on the Ebay website?

While this may not sound important, it really is because something is wrong here and we need to figure out if you and your account really are safe.

I cannot find any completed/sold listing by that number, though I see that you have a current auction for a Lego set. Is that a relisting of the item you're referring to here?

I would suggest that you get rid of the Make Offer feature and just do a straight auction, opening with the price you would genuinely accept to sell for if you only ever got one bid, and then every bid after that is gravy.

Alternatively, a more secure way to sell this (relatively speaking) is to just list it as Fixed Price for whatever you would like to get for it (you can probably nail down a good price by reviewing past sales of that set), and be sure to check the box for Immediate Payment Required (near the bottom of the listing form). That way no one can snatch your item off the market without actually paying you for it first.

Re: phishing in profile

I used the help and contact link on the ebay site.  When I got the chat bot I typed agent and got an actual agent.
