ok, where do I add the handling charge on the calculated shipping?

As stated ad nauseum, the new listing tool is a nightmare.  It gives a wide range of possible shipping charges to the buyer, making it impossible to judge the best way to go.  I'm guessing on it.  Anyway on the calculated shipping, I don't see where to add the handling fee.  Anybody know?

I don't do calculated shipping.

But with any "handling charge", don't you add that to the price of the item?

Well, it can go in either place. Adding it to your asking price would work OK for fixed price listings, but not for auctions.

Nope.  It's a separate field, in shipping, on the old form anyway, not sure about the new form.

Of course you CAN add it to the price of an item, but I've always used the Handling Charge field.

Agree completely! I am glad that the old listing tool is still available, suggest you go back to that.

@cambriachick: Like the "Scheduled start time" option, "Handling cost" is another option that is initially hidden from view because it's deactivated in a sub-menu. Follow these steps to find it:

  1. Scroll down to the DELIVERY section and click on the "Edit all options" link at upper right.
  2. In the "Delivery" popup that appears, scroll down to the "Domestic settings" section, and click on that.
  3. In the sub-menu popup that appears, click on the "Handling cost" slide switch to turn it On, and fill in the desired amount.
  4. Click "Done" to back out to the Delivery popup. If you want to add an International Handling cost as well, repeat Steps 2 and 3 above to select the "International settings" section instead, activating the International option there.
  5. Click "Done" to return to the main form.

Once activated, I think you should see the Handling cost option on the main form going forward. If not, follow the above steps again next time...

thin_air_research, How do I go back to old listing tool?  This new way is so NOT user-friendly.  It keeps overcharging the buyer for shipping.  I'd rather list a flat-rate shipping cost (calculated the old way by using a zip code and dimensions).  Please tell me if there is a way to go back to the old listing option.

Thanks!

You can get back to the old form by clicking the 3 vertical dots in upper right corner of the new form.......

Some people still have the Return option, at least for now, but others report that it disappeared on them after a while. Maybe your first usage of the new form triggers a countdown for the length of time in which you can go back to the old one.

Anyway, if you still have the Return option, you will find it by clicking on the three vertical dots at the upper right corner of the listing form:

If "Switch to classic view" is there, click on it.

All that aside, regarding the seemingly overestimated shipping charge you were seeing, the price difference may be due to your seeing the correct charge (post-sale) to ship to your buyer's ZIP code, rather than what you see when viewing your own listing, which is the charge to ship to your own ZIP code.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I have been struggling with the new form,  and finally thought to check here in the "community".  I have reported the problems multiple times to Ebay both online and by phone.  They do not seem to care.  My buyers have been overcharged on shipping almost every time.  I have had to refund shipping charges to keep everyone happy.  So glad to know how to get back to the old form.

Calculated shipping should work the same with either form.  Maybe the higher charge is because the buyer is being charged the retail ("in store") price rather than the online ("eBay") rate?

I add a handling fee by selecting  Carrier Specific discounts "No discount".

I finally got through one listing today! it was painful to struggle through all the popups and sub menus.. I also could not find the handling charge even though i read about where to find it the other day lo.... So unintuative to hide all the things that were in plain site on the classic.   One listing was enough for me for today.... i have to pace myself so i dont get frustrated beyond belief.... normally i try to get 20-30 listings a day with classic
