I am so confused and EBay’s customer service is entirely unhelpful. I have discovered that my account is permanently suspended. Ebay won’t tell me why and says it’s non appealable. They have some payouts of mine. (I made a new account to post this). Does anyone know what is going on or what I can do about it?
details: I made an account and sold a couple items (cards) for small amounts this summer. I got notice that I needed to verify my identity. I submitted the documents. I got notice that the documents were rejected “because the address did not match.” … they did match (I’ve only ever lived in one place, only ever had 1 bank account, not much room for confusion either). I submitted identity documents again. Have received no emails from eBay on the status of my account since. I discovered I was suspended by trying to login to buy textbooks in Aug. I contacted customer service, who told me it would probably be resolved in 48 hours or so, when they reviewed my documents. A month passed. I was still suspended with no email notice/explanation. I reached out to customer service again. At first they tell me I should submit more identify documents, so I do (new bank statement and other form of ID). Then they tell me the suspension is actually permanent. But they can’t discuss why.??? I’m told there is no appeal. I’m told that they will simply note feedback that they should be sending notification in the future. But they won’t discuss my case with me.
I don’t even want to keep selling. I’m just bothered that I shipped some of my possessions to other ppl who paid for them. And now ebay keeps that money? I can’t think of anything suspicious in anything I’ve done but I’m permanently banned, they don’t have to tell me why, and they don’t have to provide a path to repeal?
No disrespect to the customer service reps who are doing their job but this has to be the most unsatisfying and terrible customer service I’ve ever experienced in my life and I would encourage everyone I know to never use eBay ever. Does anyone have any clue what is going on or what I can do about it?

Well first, very sorry this happened to you.
When i first read your post, i thought It sounded to me like you were signing up for Managed Payments, because they said the address didn't match. When signing up, the name and address must match exactly to what the eBay account shows. I had to make a minor change to my name and address at the bank to exactly match the way i signed up for my eBay account years ago. I did this prior to the switch to MP because i read about this problem here in the forums.
But the address matching problem wouldn't get you permanently restricted. Have you allowed anyone to use your computer to access their eBay? If your account gets linked to a banned account, yours will get banned too.
When eBay notified you of your restriction, they sent a message to your email. What did that message say? Can you post it here?

Hey! Thanks for the reply. The oddest thing: I never received any notice about the suspension. I’ve triple checked every email inbox and spam folder. I only know bc I can’t login and bc customer service told me it was permanent.
and no, no one else uses my devices. I suppose they could have been compromised some other way, but I don’t know how I would figure this out bc I haven’t seen any sign of it and customer service won’t talk to me about it.

What were the cards you sold?

Been seeing alot of permanent suspensions lately and ebay is cracking down. I'm very sorry but gotta ask what kind of cards were you selling?

Are you in a dorm or apartment by chance?

Good point. To expand... or have you taken a vacation (for example) and used another IP address?
ETA: Monies owed you will eventually wind up in your state's 'Lost Funds' department... for what it's worth.

Of course, NWSL Trading Cards. and yeah I am just confused bc I can’t figure out a single policy I might have violated.

No actually, although I was on vacation shortly before some of this went down but I didn’t post/sell/ship from the vacation location or otherwise interact with eBay while I was gone.

Thanks for the Reply. I did go on vacation right before this happened. But I didn’t do anything on eBay from there and all the sales in question were before the trip. Do you think that might still have had an impact?

Hmmm, this is getting stranger by the minute. Is all the transactions concerning these trading cards completed? All is happy in trading card world with shipping? No buyer accused you of counterfeit cards? No messages before vacation?
You might give it one last shot in reaching out to ebay on facebook, I don't have the link handy but one of the posters do @fashunu4eeuh
What do you have to lose at this point? Please keep us updated.

As you've presented it, I don't think that caused your problem. (I only asked because I was just away for a couple of weeks and I didn't access eBay the whole time... I was too scared that some eBay ne'er-do-well might have been in the condo before me.) I have to agree with @silverstatetreasureboxes... this is strange.
I can attest to receiving the best C/S attention by starting with a PM on the eBay facebook page. Qualified Reps quickly answer via email... they will hand it off if they can't answer; you can escalate to decision makers if you're not satisfied with the first answer. The replies are very intelligible and the response time is quick. You may have to email 3 Reps... but what else are you doing tonight? Good luck to you.

Yeah it’s so weird, based on everything I’ve read online about this so far. I never got any messages or complaints from the buyers. Other than the request for ID verification which I answered, I got no heads up anything was not satisfactory.

Thanks so much for your reply. I am in my 1st year of law school so tbd on whether I find the time to go all in on this one. I think my aggravation limit and compromised study time may already have been reached but thank you !!! for the suggestions on where to go! I really had no idea where to turn.
