You have lots of events happening that can affect sales. Of course the federal government has already laid off thousands of employees and there are thousands more wondering if they are next on the list. There have been severe weather related events. Don't underestimate the effect of the California wildfires-thousands were left without their homes. The Midwest and the South have seen a series of devastating winter storms and now tornadic storms. People who experience these weather events are only looking to buy necessities not toys or collectibles.

I haven't even heard mention of "bonanza" in at least a few years. Are they really selling better than ebay now? That'd be funny, I guess news changes by the minute. I also hear the stock market is only slightly down.
Didn't bother to read on. This post could have been from 2005 too, so.

I know someone who claims he gets plenty of sales on Bonanza because he prices his exact items cheaper there than on eBay because the fees are less on Bonanza. He sells on both.

@theteamsetguy What sort of thing does he sell? I was on Bonanza twice, both times for over a year, and sold nothing. Mostly clothing and computer peripherals, but I tried books, media, bike parts etc. I was pretty assiduous in paying attention to the platform - I even tried their turbo-packs, which I felt were just a money grab. I'm always willing to take another go at something, though.

My current sales are nothing to brag about.
My revenue is off, but what really scares me is that my average sale which is $35 in good times, has been $25 during the Biden years and is now about $15.
Many of the people who buy from me appear to be unwilling or unable to spend on my items. My watchers go up every day.
Fortunately, I can wait for better times. But I see lots of price cutting among competitors who are desperate. And promotion of stupid stuff which will not be helped by it.

@tobaccocardyahoo Just wondering about your ASP decline...could it be that you've been listing more lower dollar items than previously?
But I also wonder if we are seeing that people still want to shop, they are still spending, but they are just being a little more budget conscious?
I recognize the value of a higher ASP, but I have lots of stuff in my death piles that is lower dollar, and I am thinking it might be smart for me to aim for a better mix of high and low.,,,because low is probably becoming more attractive to some people.

There are always a lot of low ticket items in my inventory, but I usually have repeat buyers who buy higher ticket items and multiple items. These buyers affect my ASP significantly.
Been attempting to add more higher ticket items when the ASP drops, always have but it is discouraging when the newer, higher ticket items draw little interest. Been through all of this before during past "hard times". though nothing was really comparable to the double whammy these two administrations have created.
I am still hopeful that we will not see a second quarter of no growth.
Low prices can be poison in the long term for what I sell, and the health of my competition and their businesses is a major concern. Ebay has always had many sellers who devalue every item they sell. It does not affect the true collectors, but it affects entry level collectors and dabblers.

@tobaccocardyahoo Thanks!
And just to be clear, when I talk about low priced items, I don't mean taking a $30 item and pricing it at $10, thus devaluing it, as you say. I'm talking about listing ten dollar items at ten dollars...recognizing that there may be more people these days who are in the market for items at that kind of price point.
I have often avoided listing items at those price points because I'm aiming for a higher ASP....(and I don't get a lot of buyers who buy multiples at one time). But I'm going to start listing more lower dollar items to see if they get better sales velocity.

My guess is he cross lists inventory and buyers buy from the lower priced item on Bonanza thru google search.

I was not accusing you of p**sing in the soup, though there are many sellers who do.
The real issue is that so many sellers do because they really have no connection to the merchandise other than money.
My inventory goes as low as $8 and that reflects my estimation of how much profit is required to have a customer - $5. In order to do that, I need easy to pack products with little risk of shipping damage or other sources of trouble.
I have a good friend who relocated to AZ whose inventory overlaps mine who will go down to $6. He does not seem to have greater sales velocity than I do, but he too has been at it on Ebay for many years. He sells enough.

In the past 16 days I had 3 sales. It started right after the Good till Cancel fiasco in the end of February.

Hi @tj2014fs just as an outside perspective, it seems you are doing well. In the last two weeks i see you had 20 sales. In the last 90 days are 187 sales. Many here would be thrilled by those numbers. So you’re meaning that sales are slow, rather than non-existent?
