I just got the "new to me" chat-style format messaging system, wow what a horrible experience.
The eBay user experience continues to go downhill.
I already clicked the "tell us what you think" link.
Just my 2 cents worth

Version came out in June, but now mandatory in November. I just noticed it the other day. We don't have a choice to keep the old email system.

It was available LONG before that. We could switch back and forth between the two version as we wished. It has been around for a year or two. I'm not sure when it started, but it was a while back. It was just in June that Ebay announced it was available. They made some changes since June that improved the program.
So the version that came out is June has been improved to now have the functions of the classic view, just with a different presentation. Still change is not easy on many of us. I'm one of those people.
Remember all the upset over the Seller Hub. OMG were their sellers upset over that change. Now it is far more accepted and used.

I wonder if they sent out a "Buyer Update" email about it back in June. I don't remember getting one, but I also don't remember getting the "Seller Update" email all the way back in June either and yesterday I found myself in the new messaging system.
I know there was an option to try out the new version via link on the old version, but I never did because I once simply clicked on "Business Policies" just to see what it was, and after that, eBay took it upon itself to stick me into those shipping rules or policy things that completely confused me.
Took a few days to find out on the forums how to get out of something I never signed up for. So, I'm hesitant to "try" anything or click anywhere new anymore. I thought if I clicked on the link to try the new version, I'd never be able to get back to the old version.
I filled out the "tell us what you think" thing. You and your husband might want to do that as well.

That's my point, there was no notice about the permanent change being made this week for everyone. I just came across this change this week. I was like, ok is the seller I just bought something from, are they now using instant messaging app for communication and I'm using the old email system? I was confused at first, then I find out eBay changed the email system. This change may have been available for 2 years as someone mentioned, but I did not want it or sign up for it. We are forced to use it the way it is now. I can use it, but I just don't like it. It is what it is. We have no choice.
