new messaging system, what are your thoughts?

with this new system idk about any one else but for some reason all my messages are visible from my "inbox" i usually "archive" old messages as we sell a lot of material from our shop so i don't want to delete the messages entirely in case something were to come up where i would need to review old messages.  however i don't want the messages clogging up my "inbox" so that new messages are very visible and  i wont miss them.  and i tend to keep relevelant messages until the buyer as received their items before archiving them 

also the text appears to be significantly smaller and the "avatars" are unneeded clutter  the icons for mark unread trash .. etc also appear to be significantly small  

overall i 100% hate the new messaging system , thankfully there is a "switch back to classic view"

i don't understand the "lets fix stuff that's not broken" mentality that eBay seems to have

How Do I Send Messages on the New System?

I was just switched to the new messaging system and cannot figure out how to reply to questions from customers. I don't see anything marked "respond" or "reply" on the screen. Can't sell if I can't reply to inquiries.  Any help is very much appreciated.

You type into that little, tiny area on the bottom right (below the message you are replying to)

where it says "Send Message"...  click there.

There is NOT a switch back to classic view option on my messages page. I HATE the new format. WHY do they always have to screw with stuff! I think I'm done with eBay. I spent so much money there in the last 2 years. NOT ANY MORE!

If you sold any volume on this site you would hate it and it would cost you money.  This year we will sell $600k on eBay.  I have 5 people working the site everyday.  Now we have to retrain to another time wasting program THAT COST US MONEY.  In the past three years eBay has yet to come up with any program that has helped make us money.  They are at their best making programs up that make them money.  If any person in upper management had a business brain they would understand if we make more money eBay makes more money.  One of the most basic business principals ever.  This unsustainable platform will learn that greed will not keep you in business or pay your share holders.  Yes eBay is now a minor part of our business.  For reasons stated above.  They can go out of business we won't.

Absolutely HORRIBLE. Now you cant even check the user ID of the person that is contacting you to see their location or to see what type of feedback they leave for others so you have no idea what type of person you are dealing with.

The new messaging may be OK for those selling just a few items, however when you sell hundreds a day and with that a percentage come questions and help request, it takes three times as long to deal with that everyday. No more flags so you can tag and go back later if the message was not urgent and the filter is horrible, I swear we have messages that went unanswered because the way they auto read when you check the inbox. "eBay we need a message roll back option, using this on a PC is pretty bad"

I feel for big sellers, but know that it is bad for all sellers, even little ones like me. I have messages in my inbox that remain unread because of this mess. I'm see the little red alert bell telling me I have messages, but too bad, so sad. I don't care.

I suggest everyone do what I've been doing. Sending one-star rated messages to eBay daily and letting them know what I'm going through. Today I suggested that eBay may want to let whoever left  those messages know they will not be getting replies.

I feel for volume sellers. That said, it’s just as bad for this little seller. I’m on a desktop and the message page is a mess. I see by eBay’s little bell that I have messages, but oh well.

Do what I do and send a one-star feedback comment to ebay every day. The one I sent today informed ebay that they might want to contact the folks who left me messages, including themselves, and inform them that questions, offers, notices, etc. can’t and won't be addressed. If lots of sellers, especially big sellers do this, maybe they’ll sit up and take notice .. maybe. Tomorrow they'll get a screenshot of my mess of a message page.

If you're ignoring messages from potential buyers you're only hurting yourself.

That being said I do agree with most in thinking this new messaging system is trash from a seller's perspective. Particularly so on desktop with a large display resolution. I'm also the type to turn off threaded messages in email, though, so I dislike the format in general.

This is what my message window looks like. Sorry, but I'm not going to deal with this. If I lose money, so does eBay.
