recently sold a used motherboard and the buyer says it was missing parts, i had in the description what it came with and the pics also showed what it came with. It did not have the NVME heat sinks on it which you can see in the pics and was not listed as coming with.
He is using the missing NVME heat sinks as a reason to return it threatening negative feedback if i don't accept a return.
What do you do in this case and what would ebay do? They have already put the funds on hold.
My only concern is ebay will give him his money back and i am out of a working motherbaord or he will send it back broken as he keeps making threats.

He clams not as described missing parts even though there are pics and a description.
What happens if he returns it and it's been destroyed? With this buyer i would not be surprised.
I don't sell much on ebay anymore for this very reason that and the tax and ebay sales being counted as income.

ebay only gives me 4 options.
You made a mistake in your listing.
Your pictures show parts that are not included, and your pictures are part of your description.
This means your description contained a contradiction, and the buyer has a valid reasons to file a "Not as Described" dispute.
While feedback extortion is against eBay policy, that policy states that one of the possible penalties for a buyer is that eBay might issue a warning. Violating the policy does mean the seller is allowed to ignore the dispute and keep the buyer's money.

He may be a thief, or he may simply feel justified because your picture was misleading.
If it is the latter case, how professionally you respond might influence what is returned.
But you are correct, sellers are at the mercy of buyers if the listing results in a "not as described" claim.

First, YOU REPORT the buyer for using FEEDBACK EXTORTION as a means to force your return. Second, you do not give in to the feedback extortion and you allow them to return the merchandise. Third, if you offer free returns and you qualify for this perk you can Deduct UP TO 50 PERCENT OFF, the return if you get back anything other than what you sent.

If you do not accept the return, the buyer will force the issue and ebay will refund them and the possibility also of the item not required to be shipped back to you. Many sellers on here partially solve this problem with shady buyers by offering free returns and the ability to deduct from the refund if the shady buyer does something like send back nothing, damages, missing parts etc. Not sure if you have to be top rated seller though. We have had this ability for awhile now so forgot all the requirements.

If he has threatened you with negative feedback and eventually does, you can have Ebay remove that negative. Ebay has a policy against this very thing and you can look it up to see exactly how it reads. I believe it is called feedback extortion or similar. I have had a few removed for this very same situation. Make sure you are communicating through Ebay messages so they can see the exchange and you have the proof if he does leave negative.
Do not count on that negative being removed. They are being stingy about this now even with cases that are clearly in violation of policy.

I have never heard of Ebay not reimbursing of Fees. Do you have a Ebay source for this or just heard this somewhere? The seller also risks a fine for fighting a INAD return. Ebay has the option of charging $20. Definitely hitting while you are down.
As far as the fees there are a number of cases where eBay doesn't refund the FVF's. Following is from eBay policy.
The $20 "fine" is not an eBay charge but is one levied by a CC company or bank for disputing a chargeback and is only applied if you loose the chargeback.

The danger in being stingy with removals of this extortionist feedback is that these types of buyers will be reinforced to continue with this behavior terrorizing sellers on here.

You forgot to say that in most cases with a INAD you will not win a chargeback.

"You forgot to say that in most cases with a INAD you will not win a chargeback."
That depends. This has been said so much on the threads that often times a seller doesn't even try to win a Chargeback, they just wait and see what the outcome is. Being proactive can make all the difference if you have proof that the buyer is not being truthful. Submitting all your evidence you have supporting your side when a Chargeback for any reason is filed can make all the difference.
They are not easy to win, that is for sure. But that doesn't mean they can't be won.

Did the buyer threaten negative feedback per the title of your post? If so, report them to eBay and block.
Did you ever entertain reviewing this buyer's profile and all feedback?
Surely you know that electronics are a high target for scams. You have to draw a line at times on listings when to offer shipping and maybe just list as pick-up only / pay then.

A buyer can force a return and a refund without even mentioning feedback, let alone leaving it.

I am of the opinion that Ebay is doing this to increase the BBE [best buying experience]. I'm confident they have had many complaints over the years about negative or neutral FB they have left for a seller being removed. This is likely Ebay's response to that.

According to eBay you are using BBE incorrectly.
"eBay is committed to provide a trusted marketplace and a world-class customer experience. eBay therefore requires that sellers place great importance on buyers' experience and work hard on product and service quality control to reduce the bad buyer experience rate (“BBE”)."

You are absolutely right, I was wrong. Guess I need more coffee today. Thank you for correcting this.
