longtime seller -- first time time seeing this scam (?) -- any advice greatly appreciated!

Recently sold an expensive camera lens and shipped it to the address on the packing slip. Business as usual.

But this time the buyer said "wrong address."  I explained I shipped to the address on the packing slip. They said again the address was wrong and I didn't take their address before sending.  I responded with "Sorry but the buyer is responsible to make sure the address on the order is correct. There's no requirement to reach out before time." and included a copy of the packing slip.

They sent an either altered or updated packing slip with an address in Mexico and attached the screenshot.

What's the deal here?? Please tell me I'm not on the hook since I shipped to the address I was told (in the US).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is playing out right now, they're continuing to message me and eBay customer service is notoriously difficult to get in touch with. Thank you...

Thanks all. Just to sum up, I learned I've been enrolled in the eBay International Shipping (EIS) program and so what seemed like a clear scam has a better-than-expected explanation and outcome. Cheers!

It wouldn't hurt to let the buyer know it's being shipped through ebay's freight forwarding program.

True. I've had more than one buyer contact me in a panic because their international shipment was supposedly delivered in Illinois. I now send them a heads-up message after shipping to just outline what they can expect to see with their tracking number and explain why that's normal procedure.

In addition to all the info on your International Shipment...

The "Packing Slip" the buyer showed was most likely not altered.....They do not see the address of the forwarding hub as you do.....they see their own address....

You can only see the address of the recipient my checking "More Detail" on your order.....
