is there anything else ebay can do to make it more difficult to sell on their platform?

OK in 1 day my seller badge went from the very best to sub standard.  What the ?????  As best I can determine it's based on 2 things.

1.  I have too many problems with my inventory.  Well inventory was an excuse I used when I canceled my sales oftentimes at the buyer's request.  More frustrating I had a couple of transactions counted as separate transactions but were actually 1 purchase.

2.  I had 1 buyer that claimed to have a broken item but refused to send me pictures of the broken item so I would have when the USPS asked for pictures when I filed a claim for the damage.  I refused to refund until they sent what was required and talked several times to ebay.  It's still showing as a sale where buyer was not satisfied.

If ebay is going to change how they are grading people, it would be only fair to give some notice and make sure their systems are accurate before unilaterally decide to change things.  Can anyone give a logical explanation for a stellar seller suddenly becoming the worst?

I am fed up.  It's time to revolt and stop selling on this pathetic excuse of a fair marketplace.  I've sucked up a bunch of bad policies for a long time.  The **bleep** poor prices they offer on shipping.  The new policy for holding your $ just so they can make a couple of bucks on the float.  But the platform is familiar and convenient.  The summer is a slow time so I'm going to explore other options and with a little luck will find a better place to sell.

At some point enough is enough and I think I've reached my enough point.  I hope other small sellers vote with their feet and move on as well.  That's the only language that means anything to these people.

You don't get strikes for removing items from your inventory that are not sold - eBay doesn't care.  I pull inventory continually from my store.  No defects.

And many sellers have moved on to other platforms, myself included. You, on the other hand, are still selling here. You are not helping the cause, all talk and no action. You must enjoy getting screwed by eBay over and over again.

No one said anyone was dumb.  No one was mean.  No one was unkind.   IDK what you're talking about, there is not one mean or unkind reply.

This info has been available for years.  It is up to the seller to be aware of policies.  This policy is not new.   It is  up to the seller to be informed & knowledgeable about rules that affect their business.   Yes, it can be convoluted at times, but the info is there for the reading.  Yes, you're right, some sellers are not even aware of the quarterly updates.  That is their own fault.    They posted, now they know.

This is a VERY VERY polite msg board LOL.   Didn't used to be, about 15 years ago, but it has been for a good 8-10 years now.   You must not get around much on the web.

Yes, there is. eBay will, at some point (can't say when), begin to set prices (or a price range) that sellers may sell their items at. This has already been "hinted" at with the "Easy Pricing" system. I suspect that eBay will begin by requiring long-standing but unsold items to be moved into Easy Pricing or some other price-reduction scheme to get the items sold. As with other eBay "improvements" and "seller helps" it will go downhill from there.

Remember you heard it first here.

Hi - If this is truly a polite message board, I am sooooo glad I missed the not-polite one.    L

Honestly, in regards to these forums and trying to offer advice, I'd much rather be right than be kind if those are the only two choices, and I'll tell you why.

Being right (and providing truthful and proper information) to help someone with their problem, and being direct about it, is the very best way to try to help the person.

Some people come here and don't really want help. They just want to complain and/or bash ebay, and/or find someone else to blame for their own mistakes.

But hopefully most people will later realize that what I and others tried to teach them is the correct way. I am not going to sit here and waste time sugar coating things. I'd rather move on and help the next person. My free time is valuable to me, I don't have all day to write up a dissertation with pleases and thank yous and etc.

Now does that mean I am going to be exceptionally rude or disrespectful? Of course not. But again, some people are, in my opinion, overly sensitive when everyone does not agree with them or they are told things they do not wish to hear.

No doubt at a price that would cause a loss to the seller and cause them to pay to get rid of the item.  Of course, ebay is always going to get their money...
