I have a lot of 1GB RAM and smaller sizes. It is a mix of DDR2, DDR3, single sided and double sided sticks. Some have heat spreaders but most do not have heat spreaders. Seems that no one wants to buy 1 GB sticks for re-use. What is the best way to sell it as scrap so I'll have happy buyers and I will get a good price for it?

Scrapyard?

The circular file comes to mind.

Have you check for recent sales of those items? Look at how the sellers listed them. Check current listings for those items too. Goodluck.

Scrap RAM is selling on eBay for about $100 per 5 lb in buy it now listings. That is a very rough estimate. I'm just trying to figure out a good way to list them. No idea if an actual scrapyard or recycler would take them in bulk or not. I'll try checking with a recycler.

Yes, I've been looking. Most of the time the sellers don't give much detail about the RAM other than whether there are heat spreaders or not. I wanted to ask a few questions here, too, in case I was missing something. I mean, you know how people can look and look but still miss an important detail. We have a huge bin of RAM sticks and I'm not sure if it is worth the time to go through it and sort it out to get better prices or just sell them as unsorted scrap RAM.

I checked with a recycler. They offer about $23.20 per pound so considering shipping if I sold my RAM on eBay the recycler's offer isn't much different than the eBay price. Might be easier, and more cost effective, to just hang on to all of it for the recycler.

The best way is to not sell it here. Scrap RAM is a commodity and not worth losing 15% to eBay and shipping it for free. I take a truckload of properly sorted e-waste to Cleveland about one per month and leave with a check. This place is the best-paying e-waste buyer within driving distance of Pittsburgh and has always been honest with valuations. You may have a similar e-waste buyer near enough to Idaho. The place I deal with also buys shipped material and updates prices daily. Look up boardsort and click e-scrap prices tab for comparison.

Turn it into something else. I've seen some pretty earrings made from RAM. I also have a clipboard made from a motherboard...make a huge metal sculpture...

The lead content in the solder in those items would scare me off from using an upcycled item like a clipboard or earrings.
Sell it by the pound.

@e-cyclers-of-idaho2021 I had some good sales a few years ago selling RAM by the pound - no heat spreaders. I would put what I had in a large, square USPS flat rate (or medium size) box. I put it on a digital scale and made sure you could see the digital readout and the contents. I took a few pics of the top of the open box so I had at least 3 pics for my listing. It all depends on what precious metals are going for. In 2019 I sold 1 listing of 10 pounds scrap ram for $211.00 plus shipping. ebay/paypal fees were $19.00.
Current sold listings here are getting $243 + shipping for 15+ pounds of ram. Id you have a local place that you can just drop it off, I would do that. No creating a listing, boxing, shipping, etc.

We don't have a local place to sell RAM specifically but we sort / recycle a lot of other electronic components and a few times a year we do business with other recyclers who are out of state. I agree it seems that the more straight forward solution for this is to save up the scrap RAM and sell it to the other recyclers when we have the opportunity. I think the minimization of labor and hassle would probably make it the better option.

Thanks for the boardsort tip!

There's no solder on them. They are very clean and stripped of everything. There are no ridges or leftover spots of solder on them.
