how can I set my listings to always show a quantity of "10" available?

Some sellers always show a quantity of 10 available when they actually have hundreds available.

Account Settings > Site Preferences > Under:  Sell Your Item form and listings: Select Edit: The select between two options: Display "More than 10 available" in your listing (if applicable) or Display the exact quantity in your listings.

That's not what I want. I've seen lots of sellers where their listings always say less than 10 available.  I don't want it to give the exact quantity or to say more than 10 available.

The information posted by nuclearomen is the only eBay setting related to this. Other sellers that always show 10 in stock are either updating manually as they sell or they're using a third party software for inventory management.

Never seen less than 10 available?  Limited quantities available is what's shown.

If you want to show more than 10, you just set your quantity to anything above 10.  Anything below that will show the exact number.

I've never seen those options, do you have a listing number or a screen shot we can check?

I'm pretty sure that the only display options are an exact number, or "More than 10." Sometimes, if there are just a few left, the listing will ALSO mention that the seller has almost run out.

you need to be more specific then when you post asking for help, your title clearly says:
"how can I set my listings to always show a quantity of "10" available?"

well i supplied the answer, and it's the only settings available so not sure what your asking, it's either you want it to say that 10 is always available or you want the exact number in stock shown, there is not in between setting. If your seeing less then 10 available then they are either using the "Show Exact Quantity" option or they are manually placing the amount...which is The only other option is to manually insert the quantity, so say you have 2 or 4 or 7 then that's what you place for quantity, you don't even have to go into the listing for it can do it on seller hub under the "Available Quantity" tab.

Yes I said it wrong. I'm asking for someone else so had to get clarification. He actually has thousands of this product. Is there a way to have the listing always show 10 (or 9,8,whatever you set it to) available even though he actually has 10,000 of the item? I'm getting the impression this will require a third party software to keep adding to the listing automatically. Is there one that does this?

If you want it to always say *exactly* quantity 10 available no matter how many you actually have, you are either doing this manually or via some third-party software.  There is no setting in eBay that lets you accomplish what you wish.

No, not through any eBay option. The only thing at all like that through eBay is "More than 10 available."

no, as already stated, the options available are what was told to you in my first reply. I think your confused on what your seeing on listings - there is no setting nor no 3rd party app that will provide what your think it will. When you see listings that say 7 - 8 or 3 quantity they are manually set in the listing under Quantity section. You can place 10,000 in that field if you want but it will show only either 10,000 on the listing or More then 10 Available depending on those setting in preferences you have set. I think what your talking about actually is not the listings itself, it's what will show on the listing entry through search, where sometimes it will say "less then 10 available"(?) - well that is not a setting of any kind, that is Ebay who does that and it happens when you have the show 10 option set but your stock has actually run below 10 - and it only happens when say your is 9 or 8 then sometimes ebay's program/algorithm will decide to place that "less then 10 available" on search, but when you go into the listing the actual number under 10 will be shows as "8 available" for instance.

SixBit along with other third=party tools have Inventory Allocation which maintain inventory at whatever level you want. if you wanted to show 8 (or 10 or whatever number) that is the quantity you start the listing with and the program will add stock every time you sell 1 or 2 or whatever.

Problem would be that you need a high end program to accomplish that. You can get a SixBit plan for $20 a month but the one that can do the inventory allocation is over $100/month.

Of course you can do it manually by replenishing inventory as you sell so that the quantity available remains at 10 (or whatever).

yes, but what she asking no 3rd party app can do, basically what she wants is the listing to say "under 10 available" and no ebay or app will do that - that I am aware of, I'd be surprised if there any that will do that, the rest like you said can be done
