how can I find out if eBay buyer using reshipper?

Hello, 

I recently made a sale on another account, and I found out that the address is going to a freight forwarder in Delaware. The buyer's eBay account is also located in Georgia (the country) and the address also has a freight forwarder code on it. Clearly, it is going to Georgia from the reshipper.

I asked the buyer about this and he said that he works there. Why not just deliver it to your home address in that case? I am shipping a brand new CPU, and I'm afraid that it could get damaged through the third party forwarder. What can I do to prove/find out he is using a reshipper?

If they do not admit it is being reshipped they are fully covered by the I am an employee **bleep**.

Cancel the sale due to address.

Unfortunately It's already almost delivered to the reshipper. I think I might have to wait and hope for the best. I asked the buyer for a picture of the component when it gets delivered so we'll see what happens.

I would respectfully suggest that is the LEAST of your possible problems.  In order to avoid issues with fraudulent claims of "not as described" you would have to provide "proof" that the item was indeed shipped to the additional location.  That proof must satisfy ebay, and basically impossible to obtain.

If the buyer DOES file to return the item though, there's no way it would work, right? 

I mean, the home address on the return label is going to be the one in Delaware, and its also domestic shipping inside the U.S., he's going to be using it in Georgia.

There's no way it would work unless he somehow gets it to the reshipper in Delaware in time, and I don't think that particular one offers shipments from Georgia back to the U.S., is this right?

The buyer does not have to use the return label that you provide.  They can elect to provide their own.   They can use any delivery confirmation number showing a parcel has been delivered to you, or to an alternate location in your zipcode to satisfy the ebay bots and Customer service reps you have to contact if you become a victim of this buyer fraud.

I don't think phone call evidence is going to help you with ebay, and ebay will not call the reshpper on your behalf if problems should arise. Just sayin'  

You have to decide your own tolerance for risk.  For your own piece of mind in making your decision, you could always call and ask for the guy by name since "he works there."  

The fact that your buyer says "he works there" suggests he already knows how to play the game.

Well, thank you for clarifying everything.

I am probably going to lose that money but I'll hope for the slight chance that everything may go right, the buyer has a very positive amount of feedback score.

As of today nothing unless the buyer states specifically that they used a re-shipper as hilariously explained by a blue.

That info is a bit old.  In cases of "not as described claims" ebay messages are no longer considered as "proof" of anything.  Which still comes down to the seller having to provide "proof" the item was reshipped when the proof is impossible to obtain.  Catch 22. 0314
