Did you mean:

high bid

I started a preowned mens hurley hoodies for $5.99 but when the bidding (2 bidders) ended it sold for $97.00, way higher than I would of ever expected. What should I do?? Something seems to be not right about this?

Ship it!  After you get paid, of course.

In a cursory look for "Hurley Hoodie", I see a few selling for $80+.  You may have just had a bidding war.

The timing may have been just right and two people wanted that particular hoodie and logo.

If their payment is in your paypal account and paypal says OK to ship, I would send it.  You got lucky!

One reason Auctions are dropping in number on eBay is that few get multiple bidders and therefore sell at the opening bid.

Back at the turn of the Millennium I opened an auction at $9.99 for a 1970's SF fan magazine, only to see it sell for $600.00.

Turns out that one contribution was from Dean Koontz, now a best selling horror writer, talking about how he and his wife broke into the business by writing soft -core erotica for men's magazines.

Ship it 🙂

I sold a WWII milk bottle cap at auction that ended Friday night.  Second listing, first time it sat there and closed with no bids. I was expecting around $20 or $30 for it...it sold for $132.50 grin - bidding war between two WWII ephemera collectors. Tickled me pink!

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

* Enjoy!

This (in my opinion) is why eBay exists.

Well the update the high bidder never paid so Ebay opened a case against them, offered a second chance to the other bidder and nothing. So tied up my item for over a week!! So I guess when it appears too good to be true it probably is 😞
Thanks everyone for your responses!!

I get multiple bidders all the time. Some items sell at minimum but most get more than 1 bid.

There's still great demand for auctions. It's the sellers who have givin up on them prematurely, so much so that buyers sometimes have little to no choice except BIN.

OP....sorry this happened with the no payment. Always sucks when that happens. I've had plenty of items that actually sold for more on a relist....so good luck!

I had two identical purple jars with fittings for oil lamps.

One sold for $ 7.95.

The second one had a bidding war and sold for $ 79.  The buyer paid and was happy.

I have had six bidding wars on my item this year.  I don't know what's going on but I sure hope I don't jinx it.
