handling time SOS! please help

So hey everyone!

in david's (for thse who familiar with it) course he mention that is crucial to have low handling time.
the problem is with Home Depot or any other source is that:
i had an order and made the purchase right away but Home Depot said it will be process only after several business days (not 2 as i mentioned in my policy) well... of course HD does not resposible of my policy but my question is:
How can i promise and keep up with my handling time that i specified in my eBay policy ? it is not right away that HD or any other Source ships the products so that means i dont have tracking #..... please help ?

If this is going to be your business model, you will have to have an extended handling time of at least five days, unless you want your account to go down in flames from the get-go.

Who is David? One of those "how to sell on Ebay" hack writers?

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

You can't - this is one of the many perils of drop-shipping.

If you do not have an enforceable agreement with your supplier, your shipping metric is at the mercy of the supplier.

You can mitigate this somewhat by extended your handling time to be longer than the worst-case scenario of the supplier (5 days? 10 days? Who knows?), but that is no guarantee.

Does this course not mention anything about shipping metrics?

Apparently not.

Obviously not if you are going to be drop shipping from places like home depot.

Pretty soon, you won't have to worry - you'll have the stock on hand once the returns start coming back when the buyer realizes they can just go to HD and buy it themselves for less.

And most likely, there will be 'something wrong with it', and you'll pay shipping back to you also.

I'm no david, but I would think the course should explain that before listing a handling time you must find out how much time it will actually take to ship from your source.

There's no way I would try using Home Depot or any store like that to dropship.

You never know how long it's going to take them to process the order or what warehouse the item will be shipped from.

It's best to buy the item before listing it.

Have a great day.

Sounds like David lied to you and told you that being the fourth and final middleman in the daisy chain between the item and the buyer was a good place to be. It is not.

Hopefully the OP paid with paypal, because I'm sensing that they are realizing that david's course is a giant snad.

Did David explain what to do when:

Home Depot is out of stock on an item? (hint - HD isn't the one getting hurt when this happens)

The buyer files an item not received? (hint - HD isn't the one getting hurt when this happens)

The buyer files a not as described case? (hint - HD isn't the one getting hurt when this happens)

The buyer drops a neg on you because the widget came from Home Depot? (hint - HD isn't the one getting hurt when this happens)

The buyer drops a neg on you when their widget is late because HD took their time in shipping it? (hint - HD isn't the one getting hurt when this happens)

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

I'm worried about the OP based on this thread and their prior one.  I truly wish all new sellers would experiment with a few items around the house to get the feel of how things work before jumping in too far.    Why am I getting the feeling david has a get rich quick and easy course and may never have sold online himself and he is the only one getting rich.

Yep.

Kinda like most of the big wigs at an online selling venue we all know...

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.
