In order to make sure that my listings were going to up to date with the changes in postage, I changed the postage to first class package and put in the weight. 8 oz. Every one of these when it ended charged 2.05 for the postage to the buyer! Postage is going to be $3.28 with ebay discount! I'm now LOSING over a $1 in my postage count because of some weird ebay glitch! And who would I even contact about this problem? The buyers aren't going to pay any more and I'm sure ebay is going to find a reason that this is my fault rather than theirs!
I should have kept my flat rate 3.75 and not bothered to use the calculator. But I figured it would be my luck to have someone from Hawaii buy my item and then I'd be out the money. Luckily I never got my listings on my main ID changed so they are still flat rate. I think I'm just going to add 25 cents to them and call it pretty even.
This is very frustrating. I would have been better off completely ignoring the postal rate changes.

Yes, I guess that could be the problem. So I guess that is on me, but I thought I picked the correct one. All of those listings have now ended and I'm only out about $20 in lost postage cost. So I'm just going to have to suck it up and eat that cost since I still have to mail the items anyway. But it is frustrating when I was really TRYING to keep up with policy. I'm going to leave flat rate items alone for awhile or just increase the cost incrementally and wait and see how it plays out.
I did sell a couple of expensive widgets though, so perhaps some people were persuaded to bid because of my extremely low postage cost! I'm trying to look on the bright side!

Go back to the shipping calculator. You have something incorrectly inputted there. Look at it closely. It will work, but it needs accurate information.

We all make mistakes. Don't beat yourself up too much. It could have been worse.

You have a very constructive attitude towards learning from your mistake; that's a very valuable trait for an eBay seller!
When setting up the shipping calculator, there's a drop-down menu for "Package type." That's where you have to be careful to choose 'Package/thick envelope" rather than letter or large envelope. If you (or the eBay gremlins) have checked off Large envelope, then that's what the buyer will be charged for, even if you have chosen "First class package" in the drop-down menu for "Services".
