why is ebay taking a percentage out a percentage from the total amount of our sales and then taking the sales tax out, we make nothing on shipping or taxes, am I missing something or not reading it right, I am quitting ebay as they are getting more and more hungry for themselves. We are imprisoned in a system that makes more and more money from sellers, what are we to do but leave. Would love some feedback from other sellers.

You ARE doing it wrong. When you price something, there needs to be some profit. You need to add a "handling charge" to your shipping OR you need to start your item at a higher cost to pay for these fees. That is how Macys and every other store does it. Here is an another example. Let's say you decide to buy something on Macys.com com and you use Mastercard to pay for the item. Macys gets charged a fee by Mastercard for the entire amount of the purchase including the sales tax that you paid. Macys knows that and has priced the item to cover all of the fees . So be like Macys and add a handling fee to your items.
Now before I get bombarded with emails , I know that many sell stuff here that they no longer want and they really do not recover their initial cost. I am well aware of that. At least price your item so that you have covered all of your fees and have a little something leftover. If there is nothing left, you are just better off donating the item or tossing it or giving it to a friend.

eBay fees on shipping has been going on since Nov. 2011 and if you offered "free shipping" and your S/H was buried into the selling price you were paying a fee before then. I covered all my shipping cost in my shipping & handling costs - never sold a it at at my label costs. Pay Pal (the Money Processor) was collecting their fees on every thing the buyer paid including sales tax. PayPal is history, now eBay is also the Money Processor via an agreement with Ayden. The seller does not pay the sales tax the buyer does - the Money Processor (PayPal & now eBay) assessed their fees on the amount of sales tax they processed and then in turn distribute the sales tax to the state/city/count where the buyer lives in or you could do it - believe me you wouldn't want to do it.
Should you choose to leave I say -
Au Avoir, Adios, Au Wiedersehen, Sayronara, Au Revior, Aloha, Adjö & Ciao! Of course, Good-Bye!

Why is it so difficult for people to do a simple forum search before posting a question that has been asked a thousand times? There is plenty of chat about the subject.

If you are leaving, don't forget to end the 150 or so listings you have up. I would hate to see you have to pay fees on them should any of them sell.

Looking at the original poster's listings and solds all I can say is that I WISH I had their inventory and had the problem of having to pay fees on that stuff.
Box it all up and sent it over to my place. I will take it off your hands. 😅
