OK, lots of posts about product review being "required" when leaving feedback for a seller, but my abilities/desire to read through dozens of posts brings me to asking this question.
Now, at least for some buyers, eBay is presenting the need to rate (review) the product purchased when leaving feedback for a seller, or the feedback cannot be left.
What happens when the buyer just gets annoyed, leaves a stellar 5-star feedback for the seller, but just because .................................. "reviews" the product as total trash with the lowest ratings just for spite toward eBay for having to "review" something that they do not want to "review"?
Does that "review" reflect some way on the "seller's" account?
I know that when searching/viewing I have seen "random" reviews show up in the past, not associated with the seller that is selling the product. Is that still happening?

That depends. Low star product ratings hurt:
- sellers of multi quantity listings
- any seller that may list the same item in the future
A low star product review gives buyers the impression the product is lousy. Would you want to purchase an item with 1-3 star product reviews or an item with 4-5 star product reviews? Would seeing a product rating of 1 star turn you off? For many buyers the answer is yes.
Those star product reviews appear in numerous places. Rather than re-invent the wheel I am going to quote what @eburtonlab took the time to put together for another discussion on this topic. Here's his post:
@eburtonlab wrote:The star ratings typically appear under "Ratings and Reviews" at the bottom of the item listing. In the past, the ratings were strictly part of the review process and only products with reviews had ratings, but now it is possible to find items with ratings but no reviews, like this one:

The ratings may also appear in the search results under the item title:

Since eBay started asking buyers to review the product as part of the feedback process, we have received one negative and one neutral review (previously 100% positive) and based on the comments we are certain that the buyer's feedback was based solely on how they liked the product -- not anything to do with our performance as a seller. The buyer that left the negative feedback made the comment "Didn't work" (that buyer purchased a few small samples of a beauty cream for less than $10 including shipping). We politely requested revision (or an explanation of what we did wrong as a seller) but the buyer did not respond. The buyer that left the neutral feedback made a comment about the dress fabric. Neither of them noted any issue with our performance. (We also had a third incident where the buyer posted negative based on a product review and we asked for a revision and they complied.) This has all happened in the past three months. Until then, our feedback was 10% positive. We posted a question/concern about this issue (product reviews being co-mingled with feedback resulting in unfair negative feedback for sellers) in the community forum but no one has responded.
