emails from eBay

Received another invite to enroll in managed payments a couple weeks ago.  Have not yet enrolled.

Just received another email stating I had to enroll by May 31 to take advantage of 2.7% processing fees.

Does that mean the processing fee will rise for those who enroll after that date?

Most likely, but also probably only when they start opting people in rather than "inviting" them in.
Reality is the leading cause of stress.

I agree, most likely.  Ebay did say before they even launched the program that the fee being offered was an introductory fee and was an incentive for those that came into the program early.  Stands to reason they will raise it in the future.  Hopefully not by a lot.

The problem with opting in is that many buyers only want to use PayPal and will refuse to pay you. I, for one, will not buy if I can’t use PayPal. I refuse to help ebay earn more money. Be ready for more non-payers. PayPal fees are 30 cents plus. 2.9. Don’t be fooled by the .2 savings.

I believe Paypal is now or shortly will be available in the Manage Payment system.

PP is now accepted in the MP program.  Well for many of the sellers.  It should be fully rolled out by summer per Ebay.  So this problem is short term.

What did you do in the 13 years that eBay owned PayPal?

You don't want eBay to make money but you are fine with PayPal making money?

I don't understand why some sellers don't want eBay to be successful and profitable. Do they really want eBay to be forced to raise selling fees to make up for the loss of payments income? Maybe these sellers just want eBay to fail so they can use that as an excuse for their own lack of success.

Sellers seem to want eBay to spend more money on marketing, diverting revenues away from eBay and giving them to PayPal won't achieve that.

Maybe that's why eBay is seen to be unhelpful to sellers, perhaps they think that if you don't want them to earn a profit there is no point in helping those sellers make a profit.

Interesting how those who don't want to enroll get invited and those who do, don't. I've made the request a few times and heard crickets. With paypal now included, don't see why you wouldn't enroll.

Managed payments fee for a $15 total sale: $0.41 = 2.7%

PayPal fee for a $15 total sale: $0.74 = 4.9%

So in this $15 example, the PayPal fee is 80% higher than the Managed Payments fee.

Managed payments fee for a $50 total sale: $1.35 = 2.7%

PayPal fee for a $50 total sale: $1.75 = 3.5%

So in this $50 example, the PayPal fee is 30% higher than the Managed Payments fee.

I am not in Managed Payments by choice, but let's not minimize the difference in fees.

One question .... have you EVER seen ANYTHING ebay does that cost money not raise it every year for one person or another ?? They sucker you in then stab ya in the back. Thats the ebay motto. Enough said LOL !! Here is a thought dont use it at all. All you will do is loose money because they dont accept all the type of payment methods you can your self.  I backed out of a lot of purchases due to that. If they Have managed payments I buy from someone else.

Sorry I agree with him about the thieving ebay does. Its like GTC that was 100% to make them money even though its hurting thousands of customers. Ebay does what they do no matter who they harm so why WOULD WE want to pay them one more red cent.  I pray every night ebay goes under then and only then will they think back and say .... **bleep** they were right we should have left things the way they were when the sellers made us one of the biggest platforms out there. But until then I pray !!!!

I'll share my reasons.

1.  PP must be accepted [yes I know it is on it's way and will be part of MP for everyone in it soon]

2. Ability to issue partial refunds without making a buyer open a SNAD.

3. Dang there was another reason, but it escapes me right now, sorry.

Members say it was a change only to make money for Ebay because they refuse to even entertain any alternative reasons.  So many stick with that even though by the admission of many of the same members, they only list thing within their free listing allotments.  So they aren't paying for listings anyway.

It is Just an Introductory Rate that you probably have to take advantage of before May 31st, it will go up as they Sign People up over the Next 2 Years. The Rate is an Invitation Rate. Later will be More. That is My understanding.

With Preypal soon to not refund the 2.9 on cancellations and returns, managed payments through Ayden is suddenly looking good...I would grab the chance. Assuming of course that ebay doesn't start keeping the fees on returns/cancellations, and then I would cry foul with the buyer is always right philosophy.
