ebay stifling multiple item orders with offer autopay

by locking buyers into instant autopay, they are unable to order multiple items and request invoice. it's bad for buyers and sellers.

Re: ebay stifling multiple item orders with offer autopay

I can set up combined shipping for a listing with multiples of the same thing, but can't for my entire store.

So many items are different weights, some very heavy and some super light.

Re: ebay stifling multiple item orders with offer autopay

I have railed about this for over 2 years about being able to combine items (I am a seller) as a seller it is ALWAYS in my best interest to combine shipping as it is a win win for the customer and the seller HOWEVER it is NOT a win for ebay as they lose on an avg of  least .50 on combining items and it expands the more items, how do I know this? From manually going back thru and undoing what ebay did and refunding the buyer, which when doing so you see how much ebay has to give back in fees(overcharged fees) So after 2+ years of filing complaints and documents as well as having IT tickets written to fix it(they know it is a problem when they write IT tickets to send upstream to someone...I have concluded they are not going to fix it as it generate s to much ez money fee wise. I began documenting each (KNOWN) buyer / seller transaction where shipping was blocked and buyers had no clue at how to figure it out, since last fall and have over 150 cases with this issue...let there be no denying the proof.  The ebay member above hit is square on the head, BUT what YOU the seller does NOT know is that there are 100's more just like him who simply walked away from a guaranteed sale that was hindered by ebay and ebay ONLY....AND you as a seller will never have any clue that you lost a sale!!! Why? because ebay makes NO mention of a buyer wanting to combine items, and as you can see ebay tries pinning it on the seller saying the seller "DEMANDED IMMEDIATE PAYMENT" which gives the seller a bad name/rep undeservedly!  They (ebay) have even disconnected the "items eligible for combine shipping" line on your seller hub, which is supposed to indicate a buyer who requested combine shipping....and needs invoiced....pretty sneaky!

Has anyone figured out a work around so we can get back to selling items instead of losing sales

How do we make them hear us that we as both buyers and sellers do not want this?

As a seller you can opt-out in your seller settings.

It's at the bottom of this settings page:

If as a seller you don't want to use the tool, just make sure your Buyer Requirements are set appropriately.  I respect that as a buyer you don't like it, but many sellers do like it.  It is a choice of the seller to opt into the rule or not.  And I don't think it would be fair to take that away from sellers.

Re: ebay stifling multiple item orders with offer autopay

I hate this feature, I cannot make my own choice how to pay. What is the advantage for seller if my card will exceed limit and seller will not receive payment, beause of autopay? As a buyer, I will get into trouble also. This feature must have an option for buyer to use it or not use. Usually, to resolve this issue, I remove my payment method from Ebay, today, I could not bid something, because Ebay REQUESTED me payment method. Is that good idea? I believe Ebay wants to get rid of the buyers with such newly created features and becomes a banckrupt.

I'm sorry to hear you are among too many Americans that have their credit cards up to or close to their limit.  I've been there and it is beyond difficult at times.  I respect your position.

I'm not sure why you can't make your own choice on how to pay.  There are options.  Also after you win an auction, you have one hour in which you can change your payment method for the item you purchased.

Ebay is not trying to get rid of any buyers really.  What they are trying to do is help sellers combat how many non paying buyers they get on auctions.  And does affect a lot of sellers.  Way too many buyers that bid on auctions don't actually follow through with payment.

I wish you nothing but the best and hope you find your way to use the system that best works for you.
