ebay raised fees to 13.25 percent. Ebay is getting greedy. and of course Etsy will follow suit. Guess the ol post on FB is an alternative. You know I wouldn't object so much if EBAY went back to payment going instantly to paypal. NO they make you wait or if you want immediate payment, guess what. YOU GOTTA PAY FOR IT.

That makes no sense.

There is no question in the opening to the thread,
Unless I missed it?
It is a declarative statement filled with dread,
Others opine with wit.
If the OP's reason was to vent - duly noted,
Some reply rich in irony, just a bit.
If shipping cost be in the clouds only time shall tell
Customers decide that if the goods doth sell

Many including myself are just having a little fun/poke at your expense. Don't take it personal and Welcome to the community forum. If you do have questions, this place is a great resource as long as you keep an open mind and realize many comments may come off as snarky. Especially if your qualm (percentage) is dated.
Let's just say it does cost $175 to ship the set you have listed. Just that figure alone may keep possible buyers from wanting to purchase your item. (excessive shipping charges) IMHO Personally i would raise the price another $250 and set it to FREE SHIPPING so that takes any of those conversations/concerns away. Maybe even include a picture of the complete set in one picture so potential buyers can visualize the enormity of the set you are selling.
Also remember that when you do say "No Returns" on your listings, a buyer can find a way to return it back to you (at your cost) if they find something that differs than what was described. That means you could be on the hook for shipping charges both ways on a return. $350 Shipping Total.
Just some food for thought.

Why do you feel the urge to insult someone here who's trying to help you?

On the contrary. It all boils down to a seller knowing how to buy in the first place.
If a seller complains about eBay fees, that is usually (but not always) an indication that their profit margins are so small that they are constantly under pressure to price items / shipping excessively high. Your hot wheels, for example.
FWIW, I do not give eBay fees a second thought and do not care if they go up in the future, because my buyers pay all my eBay fees (I work them into the price of what I am selling).
Does that make sense?

No, in fact I don't.
But please tell me how you are able to divine my thoughts. THAT is what interests me. 😁

Why is there $175 shipping fee on 4 Hot Wheel miniature toys (shipped from Indiana to my location in Texas)?
Sometimes when doing detective work it helps to be a little more thorough. It is a whole race "set". As the listing states, and shows, its a very large box and the cars ship in a separate box. Concern about safe shipping, multiple boxes with signature confirmation and insurance, shipping materials, time, oversize surcharge, etc could easily put the package in that area. At least you asked about it, unlike others.

Everyone one is so quick to check your listings for a gotcha, but didn't even bother to read your listing let alone the title which alludes to it being a whole set. These mistakes will be made by buyers as well, you should move the word "set" more towards the beginning of the title, as we can be lazy and not make it to the end. You should also have "box" in the title, as it is a popular search keyword.
What is the size and weight of the set? Sometimes it is just a matter of a single inch that makes the price sky rocket. You likely were a tad over and got hit with the fed ex oversize fee when you calculated shipping. I can let you know if it's possible to get the shipping cost down via while still safely shipping. I did find the same boxed set and it shipped for $39.99. Remember you are paying ebay a big commission on that shipping cost!

I believe that ebay sets its fees much like many sellers price items,
If fees or item price is increased will my net profit go up or down?
Fairness is not considered.
Pretty simple, the one and only reason that ebay fees are not higher than they are is because the ebay bean counters think that would result in lower profit margins.

Haven't sold on eBay for about 4 years. But I do recall the eBay/paypal fee fees frm prior years - the were 10% eBay FVF plus Pay Pal Fee of 2.9% + a non refundable transaction.. Pay Pal money processioning fees are currently 2.99% plus 49¢ per transaction. And eBay increase the monthly Free listings to 250 free per month. No store fee required.
Actually when I start selling on eBay on Jan 2010 the total fees were very similar the seller fees were a bit higher as you had to pay for each listing the amount increased based, the selling price - it started a 35 cent/listing and up to $!9.99 had to pay for every picture over 1 free per listing - averaged 5 pics per listing.@ 10 cent per each extra photos or 40 cents extra.
Do the math and put your pencil/calculator to work and make a comparison from 15 years ago to today eBay fees. Lots of pluses and minuses has happened.
Oh backing in 2010 - eggs, milk, hamburger, loaf of bread, gasoline, motel room, hamburger and Dollar Tree stuff was just a buck - 2 bits higher or 25% increase cost were way more reasonable (including Goodwill stuff). Time will always change most every thing except those dam Sweet Gum trees.

Want an eye opener about fees? My main gig these days is as a rideshare driver. The rideshare companies keep roughly 30% of what the rider pays.

It isn't an "auction", it is a Fixed price Listing.
You have one Auction and that is for those two Pins.
Of course the shipping should include the cars. You are selling the cars on that listing along with the rest of the set. Why you feel you need to ship the cars separately is interesting. You could pack them securely with the rest of the set if you wanted too.
How heavy is this car set?

@huedezz wrote:Yup thats what I was doing. Sorry I dont live and breathe ebay like you.
That is an interesting statement since you have been paying 13.25% FVF, as I said in an earlier post, since mid 2020 and somehow you think it is a new change and your fees recently increased to 13.25%. You've been paying this rate for FIVE YEARS.
So that you know, currently you are paying 13.6% FVF as there was a 0.35% increase recently.
Being aware of critical changes has NOTHING to do with "live and breathe ebay". But it has to do with the responsibility of ALL sellers. You do not seem to be keeping yourself updated as changes happen. While Ebay holds ALL sellers responsible to know the rules, without exception.
