Hi,
Can someone kindly help me understand how eBay calculates all these fees. Yes, I have read all the help documentation, but still confused.
1. I sold an item for $409.50
CONFUSIONS:
a) Transaction fee of $61.11 which is 14.92% of $409.50 - as eBay now process funds, is this basically replaces Old PayPal transaction fee?
b) Ad Fee Standard $28.28 which is $6.9% of $409.50
So I have paid 21.82% of the actual transaction cost in fees!!!
Is this normal?
Question 2:
If I am running a mark down campaign and offering people 30% off list price and NOT doing any promotion, where this Add fee coming from? Why eBay doesn't tell you up[ front what percentage they will charge you for running a campaign?
Thanks in advance for your help.

If we're talking about the $100 item, where do you see $150 as the final value fee?

Checked my last sale today. After applying all reductions including an estimated 20% income tax my profit approaches 350% of my COG. I have an estimate of what my profits on an item will be before purchasing. eBay fees are clearly shown to me. Shipping & sales tax are variables, but also easily estimated.
When profits fail to meet expectations it is often a "flawed business model" rather than the selling platform fees that are causing the shortfall.
2-5% ? Can you maintain your business on a 2-5% margin?

Ebay is turning into Ticketmaster:/. Even though I didn't opt for ads, they show my auctions in "ads" and if they get a bite they tell me "hey if you want this sale it'll be an extra 12%". Translation: We're going to bury your auctions so deep nobody will ever see them unless you agree to a 28% net transaction fee.
