ebay auto adjusting prices if item doesn't sell?

i saw somewhere that ebay wants to do something about automatically adjusting prices down if item doesn't sell.  have several questions re:

- is this optional and seller has to 'opt' in?

- is this part of where they are leading the 'GTC' listings?

- and most importantly ... is this what sellers want?  i myself don't really see much benefit in it.  if other sellers are like myself, they need a certain profit margin and price 'competitively' to reflect that and still make a sale.  on the other hand (ebay's side) this would make 'perfect sense' in that they make (you got it)  $$$$$.

any thoughts?

There’s no evidence they’re heading towards mandatory.

No point in hysteria.

I list using the app, so can’t say how it pops up on a PC.

I just don’t see EBay doing anything that boneheaded, and plots with the Chinese is ridiculous. Please.

Plots with China, probably not, but they are in numerous partnerships with both Chinese Sellers as well as many the Chinese Government.  Ebay also has a campus there teaching the Chinese how to sell on Ebay.  So I would say there are issues with how Ebay treats US Sellers vs Chinese Sellers, especially when the CEO keeps referring to China being Ebays future.  If they invested close to as much money in US activities as they have and do in Chinese entities I am sure US sellers would see a major difference.

..re:

-- boneheaded?  many policies are already in place and leading there

-- plots?  who ever said anything about plots?  "...so the china and other off-shore sellers listed on "eBay US" can sell more ...".  that is what all of ebay's support for off-shore sellers is all about, china in particular.

-- and re: "... taking even larger chunks of money out of the U.S. economy."  all the ecommerce $$ going out of country, in addition to other methods and reasons like all the $$ sent via walmart money counter into other countries every week IS taking huge amounts of $$ out of country.  ebay is just making sure that they are doing the same by their support of off-shore sellers and the $$ that ebay spends to support and bolster them.

i can't be the only one that foresees where all this is leading.  but we are getting pretty far off from the original post.  lol

anyone gots ice?  i want 'nother slushpuppy 'n rum 😮
